Starwood has expanded its portfolio of W hotels worldwide with the opening of the W Retreat & Spa Bali – Seminyak, its third Retreat to open within the past 12 months.
The newest W Retreat, W Bali is located in the trendy enclave of Seminyak where designer boutiques, diverse galleries, lively restaurants, and modern cocktail bars and clubs call home.
Showcasing distinctive architecture by SCDA Architects and interior design by AB Concept and Poole Associates Private Limited, W Retreat & Spa Bali – Seminyak reflects the rich natural beauty and cultural heritage of the destination, with a playful twist of bold designs and textures, inspired by the “conceal and reveal” mysticism of Bali.
Guests arriving at W Bali are welcomed in the signature W Lounge (W’s take on the traditional hotel lobby), captured by vibrant tropical pinks and purples, oversized day beds facing the coastal breeze, and sturdy synthetic rattan that further blurs the line between inside and out.
At Welcome, the sea breeze whips past monsoon screens and whistles through a wall of hand-blown glass jars, each holding a piece of capiz shell that allows the wall to “sing”. The sleek resin contours of the W Lounge with its eye-catching, back-lit bar glowing in electric LED hues, meld with lampshades woven from synthetic rattan resemble pagoda roofs in Bali.
All 158 retreats and suites feature modern amenities such as complimentary wireless internet, BOSE in-room entertainment system with MP3-player docking station and Bliss Spa bathroom necessities. The retreats are some of the largest on the Island with the majority offering views of the Indian Ocean. Seventy-nine villa retreats, including one-bedroom villas, two-bedroom villas, and three-bedroom villas are also available, each with private entrance and pool.
W Bali features an assortment of signature restaurants and lounges. Guests can sip cocktails or relax over afternoon tea at W Lounge or eat, drink and play in WooBar, a three-story bar on the beach. Guests can also enjoy Fire, an urban, casual grill restaurant featuring a dramatic open kitchen, or W’s seaside beach club, Starfish Bloo, headed by Chef de Cuisine Jack Yoss who presents his interpretation of Pan Asian cuisine through Western techniques.
The W Bali also boasts a Wet pool deck, Sweat state-of-the-art fitness center, and W’s signature Away Spa. The Away Spa is open 24-hours a day, seven days a week, offering guests and locals signature treatments around-the-clock, including massages, facial and body treatments, and manicures and pedicures. The spa even features a “Blue Room”, a pure oxygen filled lounge where guests can set their mood before treatments begin.
To celebrate its opening the resort is offering a Premiere to Bali promotion which includes: complimentary breakfast at Fire restaurant, US$150 in-retreat credit (food only), free upgrade to the next retreat category (upon availability) and a surprise W gift.
The Premiere to Bali package is available until 30 June 2011 and starts at US$388++ per night for a garden view retreat, US$538++ per night for an ocean facing retreat and US$788++ per night for a one-bedroom villa retreat.

Seminyak W Retreat & Spa to open in April
The new W Retreat & Spa in Bali is now in Seminyak, Bali. The 237-room retreat features a fitness centre, spa, outdoor pool, beach access and a close location to nearby golf courses.
