Qantas to Trial New Entertainment System On Domestic Flights

Qantas will trial the latest in in-flight entertainment (IFE) technology onboard a domestic aircraft next month. ‘Q Streaming’ will allow passengers the ability to stream in-flight entertainment content to individual tablets supplied by Qantas. Customers travelling on the aircraft will also be able to watch Qantas’ in-flight entertainment on their laptop computers, smartphones, tablets or other Wi-Fi-enabled devices later on in the trial.

“We are very pleased to be the first airline in the world to trial this wireless streaming product,” said the airline’s Executive Manager of Customer Experience, Alison Webster.

The initial six-week trial of the IFE product will be on board a Boeing 767-300 and will run from the end of October through to early December this year. Following the trial, Qantas will assess opportunities for the application of Q Streaming across its domestic and international fleet.
