Hilton introduces lifetime HHonors Diamond status

It seems like diamonds really are forever, at least a select group of travellers who will qualify for lifetime Diamond status in Hilton Hotel’s HHonors loyalty scheme.

Beginning next year, the hotel will extend its annual top-tier status to run for the lifetime of members who notch up enough stays at Hilton properties.

Hilton hasn’t revealed how many single nights or consecutive-night stays will be required for that cherished Lifetime Diamond card – but with annual Diamond status requiring 30 stays, 60 nights or 120,000 ‘base points’ (earned at a rate of 10 points per US dollar spent on hotel room rates and folio charges), it’s certain to be a lofty goal.

However, a company representative has revealed on the FlyerTalk online community that some of Hilton’s “most tenured Diamond members" will “receive their (Lifetime Diamond) invitations in the early part of 2015."

Hilton HHonors Diamond members enjoy perks such as free room upgrades (often to suites), in-room Internet and breakfast, access to a hotel’s club floor or executive lounge plus a bonus serve of HHonors points for every stay.

Platinum members of Virgin Australia’s Velocity Frequent Flyer scheme also receive six months free Hilton HHonors Diamond status.
