Half Price flights to 13 Domestic Destinations – How to Take Advantage

The government wants you to take a holiday, and they’ll even go you halves.

In a bid to support the Tourism Industry, Australian’s will be offered half price flights to 13 key destinations across Australia. The sale kicks off from the 1st of April and ends July 31st, and a whopping 800,000 half-price tickets will be up for grabs. Qantas, Virgin, and Jetstar will all be offering the deals directly through their websites, and Virgin has even opted to jump the gun, offering half price fares from 5-7pm AEDT today!

The Tourism sector has called for support after an absence of international visitors due to current border closures has severely depleted business activity. Many businesses, particularly in more rural areas have relied on the JobKeeper supplement to stay afloat and there are concerns that jobs will be lost once payments end this March. Some have criticised the package, voicing concerns that it helps airlines more than hotels and other tourism operators, however the hope is that travellers will do their part and spend big when they arrive at their destination.

The destinations available are subject to change, but it’s reported that flights will go to the Gold Coast, Cairns, the Whitsundays and Mackay Region, the Sunshine Coast, Lasseter and Alice Springs, Launceston, Devonport and Burnie, Broome, Avalon, Merimbula and Kangaroo Island. The flights will be able to be booked for travel between May and September 2021, meaning those with kids can even sneak away during the Easter and Winter School Holidays. Now that there’s no excuse not to holiday here this year, the next step is to decide where to go.
