Itinerary
Day One
Arrive Edinburgh, Scotland
Arrive in Edinburgh and transfer to your hotel, the venue for the Ryder Cup in 2014, set in stunning countryside. This evening, join your Resident Tour Director and fellow guests for cocktails and a welcome dinner at the hotel.

Day Two
St. Andrews | The Home of Golf
Journey to the lovely coastal town of St. Andrews, regarded as the home of golf and site of the Open, the world’s oldest professional golf championship. Enjoy a walking tour that includes the picturesque ruins of the castle and cathedral, as well as the opportunity to walk on the Old Course, followed by time for lunch at leisure. Continue to Glamis Castle, the setting for Shakespeare’s Macbeth and childhood home of the Queen Mother. Enjoy a tour and a stroll through its beautiful gardens before returning to Gleneagles for an evening at leisure.

Day Three
Inverness | The Stone of Scone
Travel north to Scone Palace, home to the “Stone of Scone” or the “Stone of Destiny” — a block of red sandstone once used in the coronation of Scotland’s monarchs. Drive through Cairngorms National Park, home to the United Kingdom’s only freely grazing reindeer herd. Enjoy a light lunch at Rothiemurchus, a family estate in the heart of the forest surrounded by lands filled with wildlife. Afterward, set out to view wildlife with a park ranger before continuing to Inverness for dinner at a local restaurant.

Day Four
Inverness | Highlands, History & Whisky Tasting
Explore Johnson’s Cashmere Mill, and then stop at Speyside Cooperage, to discover the ancient art of barrel making, learning how coopers shape, shave and char oak casks for whisky. Enjoy lunch, before touring the Glenlivet Distillery, indulging in a tasting of its fine single-malt Scotch whiskies. Next, visit Culloden Moor, the historic battlesite where the Jacobite army of Bonnie Prince Charlie was defeated in 1746. Tonight, celebrate Scottish tradition at your hotel, starting as the resident bagpipe player pipes you into dinner.

Day Five
Great Glen | Lochs, Mountains & Battlefields
Drive along the River Ness to Loch Ness, home of the fabled monster. Enjoy a cruise of the loch, to the ruins of Urquhart Castle. Disembark and proceed through the Great Glen past Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Scotland. Pass Fort Augustus, Fort William and Glencoe, scene of the infamous massacre of the highland MacDonalds by the lowland Campbells. Continue to Glasgow.

Day Six
Glasgow | Works of Art & the Art of the Pipes
Visit the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, which houses one of Europe’s great art collections. Enjoy lunch at a classic Arts & Crafts style café, and then visit the National Piping Center, devoted to the study and history of the highland bagpipe. Stroll its museum and try the pipes if you like.

Day Seven
Stirling/Edinburgh | Legacy of Braveheart
Journey to Stirling, home to the National Wallace Monument, and Stirling Castle, where, in 1297, William Wallace (Braveheart) defeated invaders from England. Enjoy lunch at a local pub, and then proceed to Edinburgh, where you check in to your hotel for an afternoon at leisure.

Day Eight
Edinburgh | Private Visit to Holyrood Palace
Begin your day with a private, before-hours visit to Holyrood Palace, the Queen’s official residence in Scotland (subject to cancellation in the event of an official function). Toast your special visit with a glass of Champagne, and then set out on a city tour that includes Edinburgh Castle. Spend your afternoon at leisure, free to explore this captivating city so steeped in history. Later, enjoy a farewell dinner at a local restaurant.
