Itinerary
Day 1. Spectacular Vancouver.
Upon arrival in Vancouver you will met and transferred to your hotel. Later, join your Tour Director and fellow travellers for an informal welcome reception.
Two Night Stay: Vancouver, Sutton Place Hotel.
Day 2. Vancouver Sights.
Today, enjoy a sightseeing tour of Vancouver, one of the world’s most beautiful cities. The tour includes the Waterfront, Gastown and Stanley Park. The remainder of the day is yours to explore. Perhaps stroll Robson Street with its many shops, bars and cafés.

Day 3. Rocky Mountaineer Rail.
Early today board the Rocky Mountaineer Train. We have GoldLeaf seating, so sit back and relax in true comfort. Pass through the fertile fields of the Fraser Valley and view the towering peaks of the Coast Mountains before entering the Fraser Canyon. See the thundering waters of Hell’s Gate and follow the Thompson River to historic Kamloops, gateway to the interior of British Columbia. Perhaps enjoy a dinner show tonight, at additional cost. Note: Kamloops has limited accommodation so you will be staying in two or three-star hotels.

Day 4. Mt Robson, Jasper, Dine Around Dinner.
Rejoining the Rocky Mountaineer, we follow the Thompson River through rolling plateaus into the snowy peaks of the Monashee Mountains. View Pyramid Falls and the glaciers of the Alberta Icefields before passing by Mt Robson, which at 3,954 metres, is the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. Late afternoon, arrive in Jasper National Park, Alberta.

Day 5. Icefields Parkway, Athabasca Glacier, Lake Louise, Dine Around Dinner.
Dinner. Today’s journey takes us along the spectacular Icefields Parkway. We stop at the Columbia Icefield for an exciting ride in an Ice Explorer onto the Athabasca Glacier. Later, arrive at Lake Louise, the ‘Jewel of the Rockies’. This evening dine at one of the Chateau’s fine restaurants.

Day 6. Moraine Lake, Banff National Park, Dine Around Dinner.
After breakfast, we join our Mountain Heritage Guide for an informative and entertaining lakeshore stroll at Lake Louise. On our short journey to Banff, we visit tranquil Moraine Lake, carved by glaciers deep in the Valley of the Ten Peaks. Tonight choose where you dine at the Fairmont Banff Springs.

Day 7. Banff Sights, Freedom of Choice Touring.
Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Banff and the surrounding area. Later, join your selected touring activity. Day 8. Kelowna.
We cross Kicking Horse Pass into Yoho National Park as we begin our descent from the Rocky Mountains. We travel through Glacier and Mt Revelstoke national parks before arriving in Kelowna on the shores of Lake Okanagan.

Day 9. Thompson Okanagan, Whistler.
We travel through the Thompson Okanagan region, known for mountain scenery, large pristine lakes, orchards and vineyards. We enter the Coast Mountain Range for our overnight stay in the ski resort village of Whistler, which is buzzing with excitement as it prepares for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Day 10. Georgia Strait, Vancouver Island.
We return to the coast and board our ferry for a scenic cruise through the Georgia Strait. Arrive on Vancouver Island and continue to Victoria, British Columbia’s capital. Famous for its distinct British feel, Victoria is a city of beautiful gardens and historic homes. With its great weather and laid back lifestyle, it has been twice voted ‘The Best City in the Americas’. Tonight, enjoy an evening at leisure.

Day 11. Vancouver Island, Butchart Gardens, Freedom of Choice Touring.
Today enjoy your selected touring activity in Victoria. Today we also visit the world renowned Butchart Gardens with time to explore the wonderful floral displays that have been delighting visitors for over 100 years. Freedom of Choice Touringâ„¢. Enjoy a full day at sea sailing through the Inside Passage.

Day 14. Tracy Arm, Juneau.
At the end of Tracy Arm fjord sits majestic Sawyer Glacier. Watch in awe as the glaciers creak and groan and finally ‘calve’, or break apart, and huge chunks of ice plummet into the freezing waters below. This afternoon you arrive in Juneau, Alaska’s capital, and one of the best places to experience a dog sled ride over a glacier, sample salmon baked over a fire or pan for gold. (Own expense.)

Day 15. Skagway.
At the northernmost point of the Inside Passage, Skagway’s history as a frontier town and gateway for the gold rush is still evident. Enjoy free time discovering what gold prospecting was like back then, or take in the wildlife. (Own expense.)

Day 16. Glacier Bay.
Wake up to the breathtaking sight of Glacier Bay National Park with its rivers of ice and skyscraping peaks. Rangers come aboard to explain the geological wonders and point out some of the diverse wildlife and marine mammals.

Day 17. Ketchikan.
As the ‘salmon capital of the world’, Ketchikan is the place to indulge in all things to do with salmon. Enjoy time at leisure and maybe join a walking tour of the town including visits to the busy fishing harbour, the town’s totem park and the historic ‘red light’ district where old wooden houses were built on stilts over the water. Or perhaps join a floatplane or salmon fishing excursion. (Own expense.)

Day 18. The Inside Passage.
Heading south through the Inside Passage, watch the landscape slip by.
