Day 1 (MADRID – MEDINACELI – BERLANGA DE DUERO – CALATAÑAZOR – SIGUENZA )
Departure from Madrid to Medinaceli, where remnants of cultures from the Roman, Arab and Christian eras can be found. Continue to Berlanga de Duero where you will have free time to visit a blacksmith shop still in use. Visit the beautiful medieval town of Calatañazor and continue to Siguenza. Overnight at the 12th century castle Parador.
Day 2 (SIGUENZA – YANGUAS – ENCISO – RIO CIDACOS – OLITE )
Buffet breakfast. Departure to Yanguas. Free time to visit the dinosaur footprints. Continue to Rio Cidacos where an old Almazara (olive oil press) can still be seen. Continue to Olite for overnight at the castle Parador.
Day 3 (OLITE – UJUE – SANGUESA – JAVIER – SOS DEL REY – PAMPLONA – ARGOMANIZ )
Buffet breakfast. Departure to Ujue with its old quarter and fortress church. Continue to Sanguesa to see the exterior of the Church of Santa Maria, one of the most important on the Road to Santiago. On to Javier with its impressive fortress and then to Pamplona for a brief tour before continuing into the Basque Country for overnight at the Parador of Argomaniz.
Day 4 (ARGOMANIZ – SALINAS – AÑANA – LA GUARDIA – NAJERA – SANTO DOMINGO DE LA CALZADA )
Buffet breakfast and departure to Salinas and Añana, with its salt mines that have been mined for 200 years. Continue to the charming walled village of La Guardia to visit a winery of the Rioja Alavesa. On to delightful Najera before continuing into the heart of La Rioja for overnight in the Parador of Santo Domingo.
Day 5 (SANTO DOMINGO DE LA CALZADA – FRIAS – OÑA – BURGOS – MADRID)
Buffet breakfast and departure to Frias for free time in "the smallest city in Europe". Continue to Oña for a visit to the Royal Tomb of San Salvador. In Burgos, free time to visit the magnificent cathedral containing the tomb of El Cid and his wife, Doña Ximena. Continue to Madrid to return your hire car.
