Day 01 Arrive Bucharest
Known for its wide,  tree-lined boulevards, glorious Belle Epoque buildings and a reputation  for the high life, Bucharest – Romania’s capital – was once known as  ‘Little Paris’. Private transfer to your hotel.

Day 02 Design Your Day Bucharest
Discover  Bucharest. Choose two of the following activities. Take a morning  introduction tour of the city, and visit sights such as the Village  Museum, Parliament Palace, Revolution Square and the Patriarchal  Cathedral. Or perhaps explore old Bucharest’s Lipscani area on a  walking tour. Visit the famous Stravrolopeos Church, Manuc’s Inn and  the National Treasury at the History Museum. Or take the walking tour  and include a visit to a Glass Art Workshop to watch local craftsman  create works of art. For the art enthusiast A&K suggests a walking  tour of the city’s best galleries (B).

Day 03 Bucharest-Bucovina-Piatra Neamt
Travel  to the charming area of Northern Moldavia, with its beech forests,  whitewashed villages and painted monasteries. Drive through the scenic  Moldavian landscape and the famous vineyards of the Vrancea before  arriving at your hotel in Piatra Neamt (B,D).

Day 04 Piatra Neamt-Painted Monasteries-Gura Humorului
Today  explore the famous painted monasteries of Bucovina. Visit Humor  Monastery with its incredible indoor frescoes; Voronet Monastery, the  ‘Sistine Chapel’ of Eastern Europe, and Sucevita Monastery. You may  also opt to visit a black pottery workshop in the village of Marginea  (B).

Day 05 Gura Humorului-Sighisoara
Travel  south to the heart of legendary Transylvania – the ‘land beyond the  forests’. Visit the Praid salt mine en route, one of the most important  in Transylvania and if you wish, stop to bathe in the thermal lake of  Ursu (B,D).

Day 06 Design Your Day Sighsoara
A  day to discover this amazing area. Choose two of the following. Take a  morning tour of Sighisoara and visit the Clock Tower Museum, the  Torture Room, the Evangelical Church and the Armour Room. You may also  choose to visit the house where Vlad the Impaler (Count Dracula) was  born and Biertan’s Fortress Church. Or visit the Transylvanian  Renaissance style Cris Castle and hike through the forest to Malancrav  village. If wine is of interest, perhaps a visit to the Tarnava Valley  for a tasting at Jidvei is in order (B,D).

Day 07 Sighisoara-Brasov-Bran-Sinaia
Drive  to Bran to visit the 14th century castle made famous by Bram Stoker’s  ‘Dracula’. Continue to the fairy-tale medieval town of Brasov. Visit  the Gothic Black Church, the largest gothic style church in  South-Eastern Europe, St. Nicolae Church and the First Romanian School,  where a local teacher explains the history of Old Brasov. Drive to your  hotel in the Carpathian mountain resort of Sinaia (B,D).

Day 08 Sinaia- Bucharest
This  morning visit Peles Castle. An exquisite piece of Valahian- Byzantine  style architecture, it has served as a royal summer residence and  monastery. Drive through the oil fields of Ploiesti and Campina and the  picturesque Prahova River Valley to Bucharest. Your afternoon is at  leisure. This evening you may care to experience a traditional Romanian  dinner and folklore show or an evening at the opera (optional extras)  (B).

Day 09 Depart Bucharest
Farewell to Romania. Transfer to the airport for your onward flight (B).

Insider Pass
In the fairy-tale town of Brasov, visit the First Romanian School where a local teacher will introduce you to the medieval history of Old Brasov. Dating back to 1495, the school is also the place where the first books in the Romanian language were printed.
