2007 Itinerary

Day 1 – See the Glories of Ancient Rome
Tour departs: Rome’s Leonardo de Vinci Airport in Fiumicino one hour after the arrival of our selected flight(s). Welcome to Rome, where you'll begin this most family-friendly of Tauck's Italy tours! Walk in the footsteps of the gladiators in the Colosseum and see the Circus Maximus, where ancient chariot races took place. Throw a coin into the Trevi Fountain and make a wish. Join us for a welcome dinner tonight.

Day 2 – Explore Vatican City
Vatican City is full of fascinating history and artistic masterpieces. Tour magnificent St. Peter’s Basilica and view Michelangelo’s famous ceiling in the Sistine Chapel – which the artist originally resisted doing because he considered himself a sculptor, not a painter. A visit to the Vatican is a highlight of all Italy tours.

Day 3 –Experience Medieval Orvieto

Day 4 – Discover the Art and History of Florence
Visit the Galleria dell’Accademia, to see Michelangelo’s David and a host of other art treasures. At the Palazzo Vecchio, meet a 15th-century resident of Florence, who will share some of the secrets of this old palace with you.

Day 5 – Travel to Venice aboard the High-Speed Eurostar
A rail journey aboard the Eurostar takes you to Venice, a city of islands where the roads are paved with water, and a treasured memory of many Italy tours. Marvel at massive St. Mark’s Square and explore the beautiful Basilica di San Marco. Tour the Doges’ Palace and learn why a small bridge high above a canal is called the Bridge of Sighs. Ride in a gondola and travel through the canals as the Venetians have done for centuries. Sample some gelato, served warmer than traditional ice cream.

Tour begins: 2:30 PM at the Grand Hotel Parco dei Principi. Welcome to Rome, where you'll begin this most family-friendly of Tauck's Italy tours; a transfer is included from Leonardo da Vinci Airport in Fiumicino to the Grand Hotel Parco dei Principi. Walk with a guide through the heart of Rome to sites such as the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona and the famous Trevi Fountain – toss a coin over your shoulder into the fountain and make a wish! Join us for a welcome reception and dinner tonight.

Day 2 – Explore more of Imperial Rome
More Roman treasures await your family on a city tour today; visit the Colosseum, pose for pictures with Roman Centurions, and check out the ruins of the Forum, heart of the Empire. Day 6 – Travel to Venice aboard the high-speed Eurostar
