Gulf to Gulf Air Tour

Day 1

Arrive in Adelaide where you will be taken to Mayfair Hotel. Meet your Journey Director and get to know your tour group at an evening welcome dinner.

Day 2

Fly over the amazing Flinders Ranges, taking in scenic views before landing at Innamicka for lunch. Stop briefly at the famous Dig Tree, where Australian pioneers Burke and Wills were left instructions to dig and find provisions carved into the tree. Land in Birdsville and stay the night at the famous Birdsville hotel and experience a cultural icon of the outback.

Day 3

Fly to Queensland and land at Mt Isa, an oasis among desert ranges swaddled by the Leichardt river. Tour a huge above ground mine, and then visit a unique underground hospital built during world war two, and browse the Beth Anderson Museum.

Day 4

Spot a Fossil at Riversleigh Fossil and Mammal Field and see Lawn Hill Gorge, which weaves through the constance Range to stunning effect. This evening, sip on a beverage as you admire the view and watch the sunset over the landscape.

Day 5

Cruise along Lawn Hill Creek, through the gorge and through the breathtaking scenery of Boodjamulla National Park. Later in the day, soar over the Gulf of Carpentaria to Groote Eylandt, one of the most remote and untouched wilderness areas. It’s the third largest island in Australia, harbouring a pristine marine environment and impressive natural scenery. You’ll fine Aboriginal art and culture, and incredible fishing opportunities. Stay two nights at Groote Eylandt Lodge, overlooking the turquoise waters surrounding the island.

Day 6

Explore the home of the Anindilyakwa people, and learn of the Aboriginal culture of the area. You will also see huge trucks drive around the island, as it is a major base for mining Manganese, producing about 10 percent of the world’s supply.

Day 7

Depart towards Tennant Creek, a town with a colourful gold mining history, as well as cattle farming and indigenous history. Fly on to Alice springs, and enjoy a late lunch. Enjoy a leisurely afternoon exploring the desert park, before settling in to stay at the Hilton Double Tree (or similar).

Day 8

Start the morning on our private aircraft for a flightseeing experience over the desert to Coober Pedy. Experience the spectacular views above the Overland Telegraog, Old Ghan Rail Way Line and to top it off the Oodnadatta Track. Stop into town for Lunch & a tour of Coober Pedy. Midafternoon enjoy the spectacular sightseeing of South Australia’s Lake Eyre, then landing in the Flinders Ranges to transfer to settle at Wipena Pound Resort.

Day 9

Today you get the explore and take in over 800 million years of Geological History of the Corridor Through Time. View the beauty of Brachina & Bunyeroo Gorges. Explore for the little Yellow Footed Rock Wallabies while taking in the magnificent views of the Bunyeroo Valley and the Easter Wall of Wilpena Pound. After a long day of experiences and history enjoy return to Wipena Pound Resort to rest up for tomorrows outing.

Day 10

To start the morning off join an Aboriginal Guide for a informative tour to the Old Wilpena Station, known as South Australia’s Oldest but Best pastoral settlements. Stroll the Wilpena Creek with stunning views of Wilpena Pound within the distance. Be educated about the Biodiversity & landscapes from the Adnyamathanha people. After a lovely lunch return back to Adelaide and enjoy a farewell dinner following short after a nights stay at Mayfair Hotel.

Day 11

After an amazing trip with Bill Peach Journeys the tour concludes after a lovely breakfast. What an experience to remember say farewell to a magical adventure.
