Double Island is a privately owned 19 hectare (46 acre) island located one and a half kilometres (approximately one mile) from the village of Palm Cove, twenty five minutes by car north of Cairns International Airport.
Helicopters transporting guests may land directly on the island, while boats can be moored either off Double Island or docked at Half Moon Bay Marina, Yorkey’s Knob,fifteen minutes by car from Palm Cove.
Double Island is offered only on a “bare-island" basis, which does not provide, in the basic tariff, for food, beverage or staffing services other than those staff involved in island transfers, water sports supervision and daily room servicing. With the exception of the owner and manager’s accommodation areas, guests have exclusive use of the entire island, including all land and water-based facilities.
Double Island’s management team will assist clients, at no additional charge to the “bare-island" rental fee, in organising suppliers to meet required staff and service levels together with menu and beverage selections, entertainment and other non-inclusive activities and managing all third-party commercial arrangements.

Double Island’s five-star facilities include a wide variety of activities, available to guests inclusive in the base rental fee.
A key feature of Double Island is the protected 25m heated resort pool and outdoor spa, located in the centre of the resort complex, adjacent to the Long Room restaurant and bar area.
The Games Room complex features a quiet library room; computer and Internet access; indoor cinema complete with 52in plasma screen TV and surround sound system; and a large games room with pool and table tennis tables and computer game stations.
An evening under the stars, overlooking the tropical seas at Double Island’s unique outdoor cinema provides guests with a special experience.
For the health-conscious guest, the air-conditioned beachside gymnasium offers uninterrupted views across Trinity Bay and features the latest in exercise equipment while walking tracks through the island¹s Australian bush lead to a variety of magnificent points from which to view the Coral Sea.
Outdoor and beach activities include the use of catamarans, jet skis, windsurfers, canoes, kayaks and motorised dinghies for guests to explore the warm delights of the surrounding Coral Sea.

Green Season
Summer, or the ‘Green’ season, extends from November to April with the spectacular monsoons creating tropical downpours of an afternoon and dramatic electrical storms. During the ‘Green’ season the presence of Box Jellyfish prevents beach swimming activities except where there are protective nets (only provided at selected mainland beaches).
Dry Season
Winter, or the ‘Dry’ season, begins in May and ends in October offering the most idyllic weather – sunshine, fresh breezes and low humidity.

Check in/out times are not fixed and can be agreed upon when confirming your booking.

Payment Schedule
Holding deposit of 20% on confirmation
90 days prior to arrival further deposit of 40%
60 days prior to arrival a copy of the program is required
30 days prior to arrival a final rooming list, arrival & departure details and the remaining 20% deposit are required Final payment is invoiced after the group’s departure and payable within 30 days.
Cancellation Policy
Holding deposit of 20% is non-refundable
Between 90 & 30 days deposits (including Holding deposit) are non-refundable but may be transferred to alternative dates and applied as initial deposit
Within 30 days of arrival all deposits are not refundable and not transferable.
What The Island Rental Covers
Double Island is offered only on a “bare-island" basis. The rental fee includes staff involved in island transfers, water sports supervision and daily room servicing but does not allow for kitchen or dining room staff, food, beverages or other consumables except for electricity, water, fuel and cooking gas. With the exception of the owner and manager’s accommodation areas, guests have exclusive use of the entire island, including all land and water-based facilities. Double Island’s management team will assist clients, at no additional charge to the “bare-island" rental fee, in organising suppliers to meet required staff and service levels together with menu and beverage selections, entertainment and other non-inclusive activities and managing all third-party commercial arrangements. This structure allows each customer to choose his or her preferred staff, service level and food, beverages and activities in the most cost-effective manner without margin to Double Island resort.
How do I get there?
Air Connections
Via Cairns with Qantas and Virgin Blue
Sea Connections
The Double Island catamaran transfers guests between Double Island and Palm Cove. Boat transfers to Double Island of ten minutes duration depart from and return to the main pier at the northern end of Palm Cove and are inclusive in the rental fee.
Coach Transfers
Charter buses are available for transportation between Cairns and Palm Cove.
Limousines
Private chauffeured limousines are available for charter.
Helicopter
Helicopters transporting guests may land on the main beach of Double Island. Flying time from Cairns International Airport is approximately five minutes.
Private Boats
Boats can be moored off Double Island or docked at Half Moon Bay Marina, Yorkeys Knob, which is a short 15-minute drive from Palm Cove. (A courtesy coach periodically travels between Half Moon Bay Marina and Palm Cove.)
