Day 1 (Casablanca – Rabat)
Meet your driver/ guide at Casablanca airport and transfer to Rabat, capital of Morocco. The city is located on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean on the left of the Bou estuary. A city of trees and flowers, Rabat combines peace, beauty and serenity and is steeped in history. The orgins of the city date back to 7th century BCE and the river port was later colonised by Carthaginians and then by the Romans. Accommodation.
Day 2 (Rabat – Meknes – Fes)
Breakfast. City tour of Rabat visiting the entrance to the royal palace, the impressive Mohammed V Mausoleum and Tour Hassan. Continue to Meknes and city tour including the Bab El Mansour Gate, Hari Souani stables and the old Medina. The focus of the old city is the massive gate of Bab el Mansour, the main entrance to the second Alaouite sultan, Mouly Ismails’s 17th century Imperial City. The gate is highly decorated and faces on to Place el Hedim. Arrival in Fes, the intellectual, religious and artistic capital of the kingdom. Accommodation.
Day 3 (Fes)
Breakfast. Full day tour of one of the oldest imperial cities of Morocco. Visit the Medina, the Cherratine and El-Attarine Medersas (beautifully decorated buildings dedicated to religious study), the Karaouiyne University and the Nejjarine Fountain. After lunch there is a tour of the many souks, the dyers and tanners quarter and the Mechouar of the Royal Palace. Accommodation.
Day 4 (Fes – Azrou – Erfoud)
Breakfast. Early departure to Azrou, a Berber village known for its handicraft co-operative. Continue via Midelt and the route carved by the Ziz River, passing many fortified villages to arrive in Erfoud. The city was built as an administrative and garrison town to keep a watchful eye on the Tafilalt tribes in 1932. Optional: 4WD sunset excursion to the Merzouga sand dunes. Accommodation.
Day 5 (Erfoud – Ouarzazate)
Breakfast. Drive to Tinghir via Rissani to visit the ruins of Ksar Abbar. Departure along the Tinejdad road with its spectecular Kasbahs. Visit of the famous Todra Canyons. Continue to Ouarzazate via El Kelaa M'gouna and the most beautiful of all the valleys, the Dades valley. An old garrison town, Ouarzazate is an interesting outpost in Morocco’s mid south west. Day 6 (Ouarzazate)
Breakfast. Tour of Ouarzazate including the Tourirt Kasbah, considered to be one of the most beautiful in Morocco and Tifoultout Kasbah with its remarkable views over the valley. The courtyard of the Kasbah contains German canons used to spread the influence of the Glaoui thoughout the south. Inside, the ghostly rooms still contain Zellij decorations and painted plasterwork, but as the wind blows from the Sahara the rooms seem doomed to disappear under the sands of time. Opposite is a well stocked Ensemble Artisinal, specialising in local Berber carpets. Afternoon at leisure. Accommodation.
Day 7 (Ouarzazate – Marrakesh)
Breakfast. Morning visit of Ait Ben Haddou. The village of Ait Ben Haddou has one of the most exotic and best preserved kasbahs in the whole Atlas region. The town has been the setting for as many as 20 films, notably Lawrence of Arabia and Jesus of Nazareth. Much of the village was rebuilt for the filming of the movies. Continue on, crossing the High Atlas mountains via spectecular Tiz-In-Tichka pass to finally arrive in Marrakesh. Accommodation.
Day 8 (Marrakesh)
Breakfast. Full day sightseeing of the historical sites of this impressive southern capital, called the 'pearl of the South'. The tour visits the Koutoubia Minaret, the Saadian Tombs, the Bahia Palace and the Menara Gardens. Explore the souks and the famous Djemaa El Fna Square with its array of food and entertainment including fire-eaters, fortune tellers and snake charmers. Optional: Fantasia dinner Chez Ali. Day 9 (Marrakesh – Casablanca)
Breakfast. Morning at leisure for browsing and shopping. Afternoon departure for Casablanca, the commercial capital of the country. Accommodation.
Day 10 (Casablanca)
Breakfast and transfer to Casablanca Airport for your flight out of Morocco. End of Tour services.
