Itinerary
Day 01 Arrive Tunis
A personal meet & greet on arrival into Tunis. Private transfer to your hotel.

Day 02 Tunis
Today you are introduced to Tunis. Visit the medina, exploring the maze of narrow streets lined with workshops, mosques and markets and the Bardo Museum with its impressive collection of mosaics. This evening dine at Villa Didon’s ‘Rest’o’ (B,D).

Day 03 Tunis — Kairouan
Explore the ancient Punic city of Carthage. Spread throughout the modern day suburb of Tunis; visit the ancient sites of Bysra Hill, the Roman Theatre, Antoinne Baths, the Sanctuary of the Trophet and the location of the ancient Roman port. Lunch in the quaint Mediterranean village of Sidi Bou Said with is white washed walls, bright blue doors and wonderful Mediterranean sea views. Drive to the holy Islamic city of Kairouan (B,L).

Day 04 Kairouan
Discover Kairouan ‘the city of 50 mosques’. Visit the Great Mosque, with its covered arched walkways and exquisite wood work. Explore Kairouan’s medina with its imposing walls and impressive gates. Wander the labyrinth of laneways where you will find mosques with beautiful mosaics and street stalls selling everything from carpets to leather and the traditional jebba. Make sure you visit a sweet shop to try makroudh, a specialty of Kairouan (B,L).

Day 05 Kairouan — El-Jem — Matmata — Jerba
Drive to El-Jem to visit the impressive Roman Colosseum ruins. Built between 230-238 AD this grand monument is second in size to Rome and was the scene of games and circuses, often cruel and bloody. Travel onwards through the lunar landscape of the south. Follow the rocky trails through the hills to Matmata and visit a troglodyte home – fortified and underground, the traditional living quarters of the Berbers (B,L).

Days 06-07 Design Your Days Jerba
An island of 10,000 palm trees and miles of sandy beaches, Jerba has been a tourism destination for centuries. Explore Jerba with a choice of one or all of the following activities: discover the island with its Roman sites, mosques, potters and silversmiths and wander the open air-market of Houmt Souk; return to the mainland and spend a day exploring the incredibly amazing desert landscape of the Ksours, visit the abandoned Berber villages of Guermessa and Ksar Haddada and the inhabited village of Chennini (lunch included) or just relax (B).

Day 08 Jerba — Douz — Tozeur
Travel across the northern parts of the Grand Erg Oriental (Sahara) to the southern desert oasis of Tozeur (B,L).

Day 09 Tozeur
Once the Roman outpost and a stopping point for trading caravans from the sub Sahara, the oasis of Tozeur now owes its fame to the masses of date plantations. Explore the sandy tracks of the Palmeraire by caleche (horse-drawn carriage) and walk through the old quarter of town, Ouled El-Hadef, with its sun baked bricks set in unique geometric patterns (B).

Day 10 Tamerza — Midés — Chebika
A wonderful day of spectacular desert mountain scenery. Travel through the rugged Jebel en-Negeb ranges and explore the abandoned berber mountain oases villages of Tamerza, Midés and Chebrika. Breathtaking views, salt lakes, dried river gorges and natural springs will leave you in awe of those living in this harsh environment. For keen walkers, a hike through the Gorge trails of Midés can also be arranged. Finish an incredible day with a 4WD adventure through the sand dunes of the Ong Jemel to watch the sunset (B,L).

Day 11 Tozeur — Tunis
A morning flight takes you back to Tunis where your adventure ends (B).
