The ideal Kenya safari for the entire family visiting Samburu and Masai Mara wildlife sanctuaries, as well as the Ol Pejeta, home to the only chimpanzee sanctuary in Kenya. We have included a number of unique activities of interest for the entire family, including a visit to the Rothschild Giraffe centre, Samburu cultural village, the chimpanzee sanactuary at Ol Pejeta, a bush dinner and breakfast with the hippo in the Masai Mara. Day 1 | |
Board your overnight Emirates flight from Australia to Dubai. | |
Day 2 and 3 | |
Arrive in Dubai and connect with your Emirates flight from Dubai to Nairobi. Arrive in Nairobi, where your Wildlife Safari tour manager will meet and escort you to the Nairobi Serena Hotel. Safari briefing by your Wildlife Safari manager in your hotel with the afternoon to relax at your hotel. Depart the next morning on a sightseeing tour of the Sheldrick Animal Orphanage and the Rothschild Giraffe Centre, where the entire family can feed the giraffe. Day 4 | |
Drive north through the town of Isiolo, occasionally passing nomadic Samburu tribesmen with their herds. Lunch at your luxury lodge, built on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River which flows through the heart of the wildlife sanctuary. Afternoon game drive in Samburu, home to the rare and unusual reticulated giraffe, the long necked gerenuk, the Grevy’s zebra and the beisa oryx. SAMBURU SERENA LODGE (B,L,D) | |
Day 5 | |
Spend the full day in the Samburu Game Reserve, enjoying early morning and late afternoon game drives. Large baboon troops feed close to the river, out of range of crocodile basking on nearby sand banks. You may even encounter leopard in the branches of a nearby acacia tree. A special visit to the local Samburu village and witness tribal dancing. Additional special activities will be arranged for the children by your safari lodge manager. SAMBURU SERENA LODGE (B,L,D) | |
Day 6 | |
Drive south this morning, passing through the town of Isiolo, arriving at the Ol Pejeta wildlife sanctuary, one of the few private sanctuaries in Kenya. Lunch at Sweetwaters Camp, a luxury tented camp built facing Mount Kenya, followed by an afternoon of wildlife viewing by vehicle, on foot or on horseback. As Ol Pejeta is a private sanctuary, walking and riding safaris are allowed. The highlight of your stay will be a visit to the chimpanzee sanctuary established by Dr Jane Goodall, where abandoned and confiscated animals are rehabilitated in a natural surrounding. Day 7 and 8 | |
Today is a non wildlife viewing day as you drive south, cross the equator and through the Great Rift Valley. Stop at a picturesque spot to enjoy a traditional Kenyan lunch prepared by a local chef. Continue after lunch to Lake Nakuru arriving late afternoon at your lodge. Depart the following morning on a full day of game and bird viewing around Lake Nakuru, the world famous flamingo sanctuary. Lake Nakuru is also a black rhino and white rhino breeding sanctuary. Enjoy a Wildlife Safari exclusive picnic lunch overlooking the lake before returning to your lodge. LAKE NAKURU LODGE (B,L,D) | |
Day 9 | |
Breakfast and continue driving along the floor of the Great Rift Valley and enter the Masai Mara wildlife sanctuary. Enjoy a leisurely game viewing drive on the way to your luxury safari lodge. Day 10 and 11 | |
Two full days of game viewing in the Masai Mara. Herds of wildebeest and zebra wander across the Mara grasslands, their numbers increasing during the annual migration from the Serengeti. Lion, leopard and cheetah follow close behind, while crocodile and hippo congregate in the Mara and Talek Rivers. Wildlife Safari will host a ‘family bush dinner’ with tribal dancing performed by Masai warriors. A visit to a local Masai village can also be arranged by your guide. MARA SERENA LODGE (B,L,D) | |
Day 12 | |

Masai Mara Under Canves
You may substitute your three nights at the Mara Serena Lodge for three nights at a luxury tented camp, built on the banks of the Talek river. Each of the luxurious tents has private ensuite bathroom. The supplement includes the Mara/Nairobi flights, luxury accommodations, breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, all game viewing activities by the camp guides, national park fees and all government taxes.
