Your Journey starts Hanoi, ends Saigon
Days 1 – 4 – HanoiI & Halong Bay Arrive in Hanoi and take a cyclo ride through the Old Quarter, the best way to get to know the ancient laneways and local people. Discover historic Ba Dinh Square and take time at Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum and Museum, and the One Pillar Pagoda. Spend a magical evening aboard your private boat, cruising the waters of Halong Bay.
Hotel: Zephyr, Overnight boat
Day 5 – Reunification Express & Hue Take an exciting overnight train to Hue, Vietnam’s imperial capital. Visit the Citadel, seat of power during the Nguyen Dynasty, as well as tombs of former emperors. You will even have the chance to play emperor yourself at a regal feast!
Hotel: Huong Giang
Days 6 – 7 – Hoi An HoiAn’s architecture, delicacies and friendly local people make her a true Vietnam highlight. Learn how to plant rice and enjoy a cyclo ride through her backstreets. Spend your free time exploring the tailor shops and galleries of the Ancient Town, relaxing at the nearby beach, or perhaps attending a cooking demonstration. Take a cruise down the Thu Bon River to arrive near the Central Market just as the fishermen do each morning at dawn; early risers won’t want to miss this spectacle!
Hotel: Hoi An Trails Resort
Days 8 – 12 – Saigon & Mekong Delta Fly to Vietnam’s most exciting city, Saigon. A walking tour to the most iconic sights in District One will acquaint you with the Opera House, the Hotel de Ville, and Dong Khoi Street. Visit the nearby Cu Chi Tunnels to learn about the tenacity and resilience of the Vietnamese. Travel into the Mekong Delta and cycle around a small village, where you will spend the night at a memorable home-stay, before returning to Saigon. Depart on day 12.

Departure dates for our Family Small Group Journeys are aimed to fit into worldwide school holiday periods. Booking conditions are generally the same as those for our other Small Group Journeys, but please be aware of the following important terms:
- The minimum age of participation is five-years old.
- A family is defined as a minimum of two people – one aged five- to 18-years and one over 18 (in other words no children-only or adult-only bookings). Our normal limit is three children per adult (and vice versa).
- Triple-share is possible and must be requested at the time of booking. Please be clear whether a double bed plus an extra bed is required or whether three separate beds are preferred.
- Where separate rooms for children are booked, interconnecting or adjacent rooms will be requested (subject to availability).
- Child prices only apply to children under the age of 12. Children aged 12- to 17-years must pay the adult price.
- We do not offer ‘Willing to Share’ or “Deluxe’ options on our Family Small Group Journeys.
- Maximum number of travellers on these journeys is 16.
We understand that families come in all shapes and sizes; if you would like to travel with us but do not fit these criteria, please contact us.
Trip grading – EASY to MODERATE Suitable for travellers with an average level of fitness and mobility. Fly between major destinations, one overnight train.
What's included (12 days) – 8 nights hotel accommodation, 1 overnight train (soft sleeper four-berth shared cabin), 1 overnight home-stay and 1 overnight boat trip, all road transport by air-conditioned vehicles, all sightseeing as specified (excluding entrance fees), Western tour leader based on a minimum of seven travellers, local English-speaking guides throughout, arrival and departure transfers, breakfast daily, two lunches and three dinners.
Tour Leader: Travel Indochina tour leader based on a minimum of 7 people.
