Changi Airport is now home to its new jewel – Singapore Airlines’ The SilverKris First Class Lounge and The Private Room. Following the capstone of a SG $50 million renovation project that was first announced back in July 2019, the Singapore Airlines’ suite of lounges are back in business. There are four distinct lounges here but the carrier’s SilverKris First Class Lounge has a unique tilt. Here’s what you will find.
Lounge Entrance
Singapore Airlines’ SilverKris First Class Lounge and the ultra-exclusive pre-flight retreat The Private Room, are both nestled in the fully updated lounge complex at Terminal 3. It is in the same location as it was before the renovations, accessed via the escalator or lift from the main departure concourse, and is open to both departing and transiting travellers as part of the carrier’s main lounge precinct.
If you are departing from Singapore, make your way through the passport control and turn left. Keep your eyes peeled for Singapore Airlines’ refreshed signature batik motif, which is near the escalator up to the lounge level. If you’re transiting, you can head straight to the lounge as there is no further security to venture through until reaching your departure gate.
Lounge Style And Seating
SilverKris First Class Lounge has a whole new layout that is primarily centred around one main zone and caters for a mix of working, dining and relaxing. The sofas are very comfy offering a more laidback visit – and with all forms of power built-in with easy access. This is the place to power up while you recharge your own battery for the flight ahead, whether it’s AC, USB or wireless charging.
As you may have seen in many of Singapore Airlines’ other lounges, there are private pods that line some of the walls. These give you the flexibility to work with a little more privacy, whether it’s to dine solo, or read a good book with a handy light right where you need it.
The styling overall is unique and resembles many of the airline’s premium cabins but with small design touches echoed from The Private Room.
The Private Room
Singapore Airlines’ new Private Room at Changi T3 is its most exclusive lounge that only allow access to those flying on the carrier’s own flights in the First Class or Suites cabin. Luckily, those redeeming KrisFlyer miles are also included.
The Private Room doesn’t have it’s own entrance right from the main lounge reception area. However, once you enter the First Class lounge section you will be escorted along a separate corridor to the dedicated lobby area. The lobby itself has a custom-made Lalique light dome that takes centre stage, welcoming guests into the lounge.
Food And Beverages
As it is a level above Business Class, the food and beverages offered here reflects the class. Choices of meals can vary to suit the time of the day, but on this visit, the buffet is proved to be quite comprehensive. You can have everything from dumplings and satay through to truffle fries, sandwiches, salads, cheese and fruit. One thing you may go for seconds of is their delicious satay, as expected in Singapore.
For coffee, barista-made coffees are available here but unfortunately, their service ends at 10am rather than being all day. After that, you’ll need to make do with a do-it-yourself brew at the self-serve machines.
Lounge Amenities
Singapore Airlines’ SilverKris First Class Lounge now offers private nap rooms, perfect for travellers with time to spare. The rooms are bookable for two hours at a time and is available on a first-come, first-sleep basis. Many travellers will choose to nap, but if you can’t, there’s a yoga mat to get your body moving. The bathrooms and showers are very stylish that when you wander in a shower suite, it makes you feel like you’ve just checked into a luxury hotel. You’ll also have access to free Wi-Fi with workable speeds, however, it would be interesting to see how the Wi-Fi stacks up on busier days.
Overall, the new Singapore Airlines’ SilverKris First Class Lounge brings the experience to a whole new level with eye-catching bar, nap rooms, stylish bathrooms and showers, which is truly better than Business Class facility. But with faster Wi-Fi and all-day barista-made coffee, this would set the tone even more.
