Commencing in late June 2020 Qantas is adding an additional three return flights per week between Sydney and Santiago. The Sydney-Santiago will be on the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and the additional flights will add more than 20,000 seats each year. Qantas is gradually replacing the Boeing 747 aircraft with the more efficient Dreamliners. Six more Dreamliners are bound for Qantas arriving from October on, with eight currently in its fleet.
Some comments from Qantas International Acting CEO Naren Kumar “Our Dreamliner has been extremely popular with customers, so we are pleased to give those traveling between Australia and South America the opportunity to experience it. Customer feedback on the cabin environment, from the seats to the anti-jetlag measures continues to exceed our expectations. We are also the only airline to offer Premium Economy between Sydney and Santiago, which is very popular on all flights."
Beyond Santiago, customers can connect to LATAM’s network with Qantas codeshare services to 6 countries and 14 destinations across South America, including Rio De Janeiro and São Paulo in Brazil; Bogota, Columbia; Guayaquil, Ecuador; Lima, Peru; and Montevideo, Uruguay. Qantas also codeshares on LATAM’s flights between Melbourne and Santiago which operates 3 days a week.
The Dreamliner carries 236 passengers in three cabins. It features the latest version of Business Suite as well as the next generation Premium Economy seat.
