The beautifully untouched nation of Vanuatu stretches across 1,300km of the South Pacific Ocean. Consisting of over 80 individual islands, it is surrounded by surrounded by neighbouring New Caledonia, Solomon Islands and Fiji. There are 3 main tourist destinations within the Vanuatu island chain—the islands of Efate, Espiritu Santo (commonly just “Santo") and Tanna.
Decorated by volcanic mountain ranges, there are plenty of natural wonders to see and experience. Visit Efate for vibrant tourist spots, mountainous tropical jungles, waterfalls, blue holes, villages, magnificent natural harbour and stunning marine hotspots. Stay in the capital, Port Vila, and be surrounded by bars, restaurants and unique shops.
Resort-style accommodation abounds, as does an abundance of things to do, from lounging on the golden beaches, diving in the immaculate waters, surfing upon serene waves, touring amongst the array of natural habitats or visiting local markets to sample the local cuisine. Vanuatu draws its influences from Europe, Asia and Melanesia.
Take a 50-minute flight north to the island of Santo—Vanuatu’s largest island. Known for its phenomenal diving and snorkelling, turquoise freshwater blue holes, famous white beaches and caves, Santo is the perfect place to enjoy natural beauty and simplicity.
Tanna offers similar natural wonders, though with a touch more fire added in. Not only can you snorkel, swim and dive in underwater caves, hike up to untouched waterfalls and observe traditional village life, but you can also fly and walk up to the rim of the Mount Yasur volcano. Yasur is still active and stretches 361 metres high and is surrounded by huge black sand dunes created by its ash rain. At night-time, onlookers are treated to an impressive natural fireworks display—a true once-in-a-life-time experience! If lava doesn’t excite, Tanna’s coffee plantations, unique ceremonies and rituals and horse riding adventures might. Drink kava, feast and dance—a 35-minute flight will get you there to soak up the best of Vanuatu life!
