La Roche-Guyon is a village that lies just a short distance from Normandy on the banks of a meander in the Seine, and at the foot of picturesque chalk cliffs dominated by a keep on the hill behind. It is officially classified as one of France’s “Most Beautiful Villages".
It was originally developed next to the river below a medieval chateau, and the remains of which still stand on the hill behind the village. The village towers over a loop of the Seine and has certainly made its mark on the Chateau de La Roche-Guyon, which has had many different faces over the centuries.
