Dubrovnik was founded in the 7th Century and rose to greatness as a merchant state, independent republic and cultural crossroads. For many centuries, Dubrovnik rivalled Venice as a perfectly preserved trading port with it’s huge sturdy stone walls.
The Old Town is known as one of the world’s finest medieval cities in the world and is a living museum of the ages with fortifications, chapels, monastic cloisters and Europe’s second-oldest synagogue crowded into its ancient walls.
