The 7 Legendary Back Bowls

While the Front Side of Vail is home to the most groomed terrain on the planet; it’s seven legendary Back Bowls spanning 11 kilometers are at the heart of Vail and offer wide open skiing and amazing views. Start by exploring Sun Up and Sun Down Bowls, and work your way back to China and Teacup Bowls. China Bowl offers the only groomed blue runs in the Back Bowls [easily accessed via the Sourdough Express Lift (#14) on the Front Side].  If you are feeling adventurous, make your way all the way out to Siberia Bowl and the surface T-Bar style Mongolia Lift (#22) to access the far reaches of Inner and Outer Mongolia Bowls!

Burton US Open

Dubbed “The World’s Greatest Snowboard Event, 2015 marks the 33rd year of the Burton US Open Snowboarding Championships presented by MINI March 2-8. With mega-screens set up in Vail Village and Lionshead, sponsor villages, free concerts and, of course, the best snowboarders in the world competing at the Golden Peak Terrain Park, the action doesn’t stop at Vail.

2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships
The worlds best ski racers will return to Vail and Beaver Creek February 2-15. The 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships are expected to showcase athletes from over 70 nations and all racing events are free to and open for the public to attend.
Luxury Gondola One with heated seats and wi-fi
During the 2012-2013 season Vail celebrated its 50th anniversary with a new, state-of-the art gondola in Vail Village. The cabins carry 10 passengers and each feature heated, cushioned seats and free Wi-Fi access for guests. With a speed of 1,200 feet per minute, the gondola is the fastest of its type in the world, creating a 40 percent increase in uphill capacity.
