Through this pre-departure convenience, passengers can book succulent international favourites like Braised Lamb Shank, Pan Fried Seabass and Salmon, Chicken Roulade, Egg Soufflé, Pan Seared Fillet of Beef, Cod Papillotte, Filet Mignon and Prawn Brochette with Tomato Linguine.
In addition, they can also choose from Malaysian menu selections which comprise among others, popular dishes like Nasi Lemak, Assam Pedas Fish, Beef Korma, Chicken Curry Kapitan, Stir Fried Chicken, Wok Fried Egg Noodles, Ayam Kechap, Mutton Curry and Stir Fried Egg Noodles with Seared Prawns. These are not only offered for flights from Malaysia but also for flights originating from the Australia/New Zealand and European cities. Customers traveling from these cities get to enjoy the unique Malaysian Hospitality, through both the world-renowned and award winning Malaysia Airlines cabin crew and also through the authentic Malaysian cuisine from the moment they start their flights to Malaysia.
Malaysia Airlines’ Regional Senior Vice President for Australia/New Zealand/South West Pacific Mr Yap Kiang Thiam said,
“This exclusive service was originally available to our Frequent Flyer members of Enrich Platinum category traveling in First and Business Classes when it was rolled out from 1 September 2006 and later extended to all First Class passengers on the Sydney-Kuala Lumpur-Sydney and London-Kuala Lumpur-London routes from 1 February 2011.”
“The Chef-on-call menu for both our First and Business classes is revised every two months where five dishes will be replaced with new ones to ensure our guests have a variety of meal selections. We are confident that our customers will enjoy Chef-on-Call as we strive to always exceed our customer’s expectations in our products and services. This is also yet another enhancement to make our product competitive and attractive to match the expectations of new customers from the oneworld alliance members who fly on us from 1 February this year,” he added.
To encourage booking of preferred meals from the complimentary Chef-on-Call facility, Malaysia Airlines contacts customers through e-mail at least 72 hours before their flight departure. Through this e-mail, they are invited to enjoy this in-flight hospitality by confirming their preferences at least 24 hours before commencement of their travel.
Customers can then select their meal options from the convenience of their homes or workplaces through the airline’s website or by contacting Malaysia Airlines’ Reservations. When abroad, they can do so similarly by contacting the nearest Malaysia Airlines reservations/ticketing office or its Malaysian Call Centre.
