Lufthansa Brings the Boeing 747-8 Into a New Era of Luxury
While most airlines have retired their 747s, Lufthansa continues to operate 19 Boeing 747-8 aircraft, reaffirming its commitment to classic aviation paired with modern luxury. The airline is now rolling out its brand-new Allegris cabin experience across its 747 fleet—offering world-class First Class, Business Class, and Premium Economy enhancements.
Introducing Allegris: Lufthansa’s Most Luxurious Cabin Yet
The Lufthansa Allegris cabin concept, first introduced on the Airbus A350, is making its way to the Boeing 747. Passengers can expect:
- Private First Class Suites with floor-to-ceiling sliding doors
- Fully-flat Business Class beds with personalized space and privacy
- Premium Economy seats with more recline and upgraded design
These changes bring Lufthansa’s onboard offering in line with leading luxury carriers—ideal for premium travelers seeking comfort, privacy, and innovation.
Two-Phase Upgrade: Main Deck First, Upper Deck to Follow
Due to the Boeing 747’s unique design, Lufthansa is installing the Allegris product in two stages:
- Main Deck: Will feature the full Allegris upgrade, including all-new Business, Premium Economy, and Economy seating.

- Upper Deck: Will temporarily retain the current Business Class layout (2-2 configuration) until a tailored Allegris solution is certified for the curved upper fuselage.

For a limited time, passengers may encounter two different Business Class configurations on the same aircraft.
New Business Class Experience
Lufthansa’s new Business Class cabin offers:
- Fully enclosed suites with sliding doors
- Alternating “Classic" (aisle-access) and “Private" (window) seat configurations
- Personal climate control and wireless charging
- Larger entertainment screens and luxurious finishes
Passengers will be able to view seat maps and cabin layouts during booking, making it easy to select the most desirable seats.
Lufthansa 747-8 First Class: A Tailored Luxury
The nose section of the 747-8 will feature custom-made First Class suites, designed by Lufthansa Technik, to fit the aircraft’s iconic curvature.
These will include:
- Ultra-private suites designed exclusively for the 747’s forward section
- A refined layout inspired by club-style lounge atmospheres
- Features from the Allegris First Class concept on the Airbus A350 and future Boeing 777-9
