The Reef safari tents feature king sized beds and raised decks upon which to soak up the island atmosphere and possibly a sunset beverage. Facilities

The Longhouse
The Longhouse is the central dining and relaxation area on the island, a large comfortable banquette seating area for relaxing and socialising with an open kitchen. Guests are encouraged to treat the Longhouse as their own home, helping themselves to the library, beverages and snacks as they please.

Community Tent

A Community Tent, with open sides, large comfortable day beds, a selection of magazines and binoculars provides guests the perfect place to relax, chill out, and enjoy the stunning ocean, reef and sunset views.

Wilson Island is the ultimate and the most authentic castaway experience on the Great Barrier Reef, with a divinve sweep of castor sugar sands that is home to many turtles and birds. Its pristing waters are host to an unimaginable variety of marine life, including colourful coral and fish, with some of the best snorkelling in the Great Barrier Reef, just off the beach.

The island welcomes a maximum of just 12 guests at a time and offers designer tented accommodatio. Interiors feature natural materials and a modern beachcombing theme. Dining at Wilson is in the relaxed open air environment of the Longhouse.

A true synergy with nature is at the core of the Wilson Island experience-days can be filled snorkelling and exploring the island, watching the amzaing wildlife or breathtaking views in complete seclusion. Live and enjoy life as a beachcomber.

Dining

Breakfast is a tropical buffet, with hot breakfasts cooked to order. Lunch is a delicious smorgasbord in the Wilson Island Longhouse, or for a really special experience try a picnic on the beach.Dining on Wilson Island is one of the highlights of any stay. Our menus have a distinctive Australian feel, with a commitment to freshness, simplicity and variety.

Each evening begins with guests enjoying sunset drinks and canapés. Returning to The Longhouse you’ll find the table set for a dinner party style gathering of friends, with light music playing, candles lit, and the Island Hosts making final preparations for the evening’s dinner. Of course Vegetarian options can be catered with a little advanced notice. For any other dietary requirements simply discuss your requirements at the time of booking.

Location

A tiny coral cay, Wilson Island is located just above The Tropic of Capricorn, approximately 72 kilometres off the Queensland Coast, northeast of Gladstone and 15 kilometres from nearby Heron Island. Gladstone is 534 kilometres north of Brisbane, and 1183 kilometres south of Cairns, Queensland.

Getting there

Wilson Island is 40 mintues by launch from Heron Island. Heron Island is a 30 minutes helicopter flight from Gladston-from $275 one way per person, or a 2 hour launch-from $120 one way per person.
