A COOL EXPERIENCE FOR ANYONE AT ANY TIME OF THE YEAR
Thankfully, whatever the season, there is an extraordinary experience awaiting anyone who visits. At ICEHOTEL 365, the newest addition to this Swedish landmark, anyone who wishes to go on an ice escapade can get to do so no matter the season. As the first permanent ice and snow hotel ever to be built, guests can now enjoy this unique Arctic adventure all year round. Have you ever imagined yourself sleeping in a room built out of ice? This and so much more are prepared for you in the massive 2100 square meter ice hall. Among the exciting attractions and activities that await are an art exhibit featuring hand-carved ice sculptures, a five-course menu highlighting Scandinavian delicacies, and the famous Ice Bar, which serves drinks in unique ice-carved glasses. Can a trip to the north get any cooler than this?

ICEHOTEL is the world’s first and largest hotel built of snow and ice and it is situated in Jukkasjärvi, a small village in Northern Sweden with 1,100 residents and 1,000 dogs.

Each winter, some 50,000 visitors from all over the world come to see ICEHOTEL to experience the tranquility, the northern lights and all of the activities offered in Europe’s last wilderness 200 km north of the Arctic Circle.

ICEHOTEL covers 5,500 square meters and is constructed from 1,000 tonnes of Torne River ice and 30,000 tons of “snice”, a mixture of snow and ice that strengthens the structure. Around 100 people are involved in the construction of ICEHOTEL, half of which are artists especially invited to design particular areas of the hotel. The construction is a year-round process. Between March and April, 5,000 tons of ice is harvested from the Torne River and kept in cold storage during spring and summer. Construction takes place in November and December and the entire ICEHOTEL is then open between December and mid-April, when everything begins to slowly melt and return to the Torne River. The ICEHOTEL 365 is open year round.

Dining Options:

ICEHOTEL Restaurant

The dining room in Icehotel Restaurant is warm and traditional – an escape from the sub-zero degrees, but still letting our ice and surroundings take center stage. Choose from the a la carte menu or try our specially crafted dining experience – the ice menu.

The Veranda

At the Veranda we serve a eight course menu cooked in front of the guests. This food experience welcome our guests “home” to Icehotel and also home to Sweden.

You are invited to sit down at the huge wooden table with the rest of the guests. Two chefs from the Icehotel brigade cook and serve a eight-course menu with accompanying beverages in front of you. While you enjoy the food, the chefs talk about the produce.

The Old Homestead

The rustic Homestead has a special place in the heart of Jukkasjärvi locals. In the timbered building dating back to 1768, which is also a museum, an open fire is crackling in winter, and the porch overlooking the calm passing of Torne river is a welcome spot for drinks and meals in summer.

It’s very popular amongst both guests and locals so make sure to book your spot in good time.

The ICEBAR

Sip on a delicious cocktail or have a glass of Champagne – obviously the glasses are made entirely out of ice. Dance on a floor made of snow and do some late night mingling with visitors from near and far that have all traveled to this little bar by the Torne River.

You find our ice bar in the permanent part of Icehotel, open every day year round.

The Lounge

Located behind the lobby, our lounge is open December to April, serving light snacks, hot drinks, cocktails and beers. Bring your book, a deck of cards or make some new friends between excursions or while your room is ready for check-in.
