Summer Wild West Academy Packages
This summer Four Seasons Resort and Residences Jackson Hole introduces a series of learning experiences with a Four Seasons twist. The new Wild West Academy allows families choose from a selection of authentic Wild West experiences to customize their vacation and experience the best of Jackson Hole in a new way.
From watching wildlife in their natural surroundings to learning how to turn indigenous huckleberries into a delicious sauce paired with locally raised elk and bison, the Wild West Academy offers seven unique offerings that can be tailored according to preference, interest, family size and kids ages. Graduates from the Wild West Aademy will return home with a diploma and unforgettable Jackson Hole memories. Summer experiences include the following:
- Start with a lesson in biology, by wandering off the beaten path with the Resort’s in-house naturalist on a signature Wildlife Safari. View wildlife in their natural habitats such as black bears and grizzlies foraging for food, and spend time viewing other native species including wolves, moose, bison, pronghorn, eagles, owls and mule deer.
- For those interested in astronomy, Wyoming is the least populated US state, and therefore offers dark skies that are ideal for viewing stars. Guests can explore the Western sky, the Milky Way, galaxies, solar systems and beyond with the Resort’s own astronomer, complete with a state-of-the-art, high-powered telescope, on a Stargazing Journey.
- Guests can also venture down the Snake River in a hand-crafted wooden boat for a lesson in entomology with the expert Four Seasons Fly Fishing guide. Learn to identify different aquatic life and insects, and how to tie flies to make the perfect catch.
- Explore the Wyoming traditions of vast ranches and farms with a chef-led culinary arts experience, Night On The Range, an adventure with the Executive Chef Michael Goralski and team. Learn how to cook game meat and prepare a delicious meal to compliment the indigenous ingredients found throughout the region.
- For those interested in history and culture, learn How To Be A Cowboy for a day with an intro to rodeo, leather stamping and barrel racing. Or allow the streets of Jackson Hole to come alive with tales and traditions of the past experienced on downtown Historical Tours.
- Additionally, there is the Shoshone Ways of Life, which gives a deeper insight on the Shoshone indigenous people of Jackson Hole. Spend an afternoon learning the Shoshone language and crafts while cooking fry bread over an open flame and exploring Wyoming’s rich history and ancestral stories.
Wild West Academy offerings can be booked prior to arrival directly through the concierge. Families can explore all of the experiences or can pick and choose their favourites, and participants will leave home with a memento from their visit.
