Hua Hin is located approximately 200 kms southwest of Bangkok. Recently upgraded highways provide for a leisurely three hour drive to Thailand's oldest beach resort area.

Hua Hin first became popular as a summer retreat in the 1920's with the construction of the railway line from Bangkok. A beautiful colonial style railway hotel was built near Hua Hin's famous rocks in 1923 and the area finally became well established as a beach resort when King Rama VII built a beachside palace named "Klai Kangwon" there in 1926. Thai Royal Family members still customarily spend vacation time there.

Hua Hin also boasts Thailand's first golf course (still in use as the Royal Hua Hin Golf Course after some 70 years).

Hua Hin is unlike most other beach resorts in Thailand. If you are looking for bright lights and frantic all night action you will be disappointed here. It is very much a family holiday resort area with good shopping and multi-national restaurants including, of course, the best Thai seafood the country has to offer.

Apart from its fabulous beaches, Hua Hin is best known for its cotton products, which come in a wide range of prints and colours, and its dried seafood products which enjoy enduring appeal among those who favour Thai and Chinese cuisine. A nightly street market in Hua Hin town is a favourite venue for shoppers.

The Earth Spa

The Earth Spa by Six Senses is unlike any other spa. It is made entirely from a mixture of clay-like mud mixed with rice husks and straw, forming circular domed buildings set over 1,386 square metres (14,920 square feet) of water and landscaping. There are nine buildings in all, with the tallest – the meditation cave – being 7.5 metres (24.5 feet) high with 4.2 metres (13.8 feet) internal diameter. The walls of the Earth Spa buildings are up to 80cm (31 inches) thick.

The initial concept of the Earth Spa came from the traditional construction methods of rural villages in northern Thailand, where building interiors remain at a comfortable temperature, even in summer. Six Senses worked with one community, and a Feng Shui master to design and adapt the classic forms to a spa function.

The Earth Spa comprises a cluster of nine buildings, which appear to be floating on ponds. These include four treatment rooms with private outdoor Jacuzzi, two steam rooms, the meditation cave, relaxing area offering fresh juices, and the reception area. The earth domes are designed with openings low to the outside water, allowing refreshing breezes and energy flows to enter the buildings. Openings at the top of each building provide natural ventilation.

The Earth Spa by Six Senses is located right beside the newly opened Evason Hideaway at Hua Hin and offers guests of the Hideaway a comprehensive menu of specialty treatments that focus on Skin Food – the commitment that nothing should be put onto the skin that could not be eaten. The skin food concept is combined with the four elements of nature represented in the spa: earth – the construction material; water – surrounding the buildings; air – natural ventilation; and fire – used in heat treatments such as hot stones, steam and sauna, herbal compresses and body wraps. In balance to these elements are philosophies of traditional medicine, such as Ayurveda and Chinese, providing spa experiences to naturally enhance the skin food treatments, balanced cuisine, lifestyle activities and workshops available from the Earth Spa menu.

Many of the ingredients used in the treatments are grown right at the Evason Hideaway. These include rice, coconut, avocado, papaya, lime, aloe vera, cucumber, pandanus leaf, lemongrass, ginger, galangal, candlenut and turmeric; and all freshly harvested.

A menu of balanced cuisine is being introduced to the Living Room at the Evason Hideaway. The spa treatments will continue with food prepared to further enhance the benefits. For example, detoxifying treatments that utilize ingredients in the Earth Spa's skin food, will also be incorporated in the Living Room lunch dishes.

The Beach Restaurant
The Beach Restaurant located at the front of the resort and overlooking the sea is open for lunch and dinner daily featuring an open kitchen and wood fired pizza oven serving Mediterranean influenced dishes incorporating fresh ingredients, many of which are harvested daily from the resorts organic herb, fruit and vegetable garden.

Villa Dining
In Villa Dining at The Hideaway allows you the opportunity to dine in the privacy of your villa anytime you wish with offerings never limited to the usual – a favorite of many guests is an evening BBQ prepared by our hosts on your private terrace beside the pool with a Chef and service hosts in attendance while you simply relax and enjoy the secluded tropical ambience.

The Living Room
The Living Room offers a buffet and a la carte breakfast from 7.00am to 10.30am daily and offers a contemporary selection of local and international dishes all day in an al fresco environment and overlooking splendid lotus ponds. Especially designed Balanced Cuisine, unique to The Living Room, complements many of the Earth Spa treatments and adds an overall balance to your health and well being.
