Cristalino Jungle Lodge

The Cristalino Jungle Lodge is located in the midst of the forest, with accommodations that blend with the native jungle. Located in the middle of a 28,167-acre private reserve, an area 30% larger than New York’s Manhattan Island, the lodge offers unique outdoor experiences. Built to harmonize with the surrounding forest, the eco-friendly bungalows provide a pleasant and comfortable stay. The lodge is a winner of the World Savers Award, presented by Condé Nast Traveler in 2008, and was selected as one of the 25 best Ecolodges in the world by National Geographic Traveler in 2013, due to its combination of authentic experiences, sustainability ethic and comfort.

The self-service buffet style meals are an especially enjoyable feature of the Cristalino Lodge experience. Our kitchen gives preference to local products that are in season. So you can look forward to delicious Brazilian cuisine accompanied by stunning views of the forest. Organically grown fruits and vegetables, fresh fish and a variety of meats can be enjoyed under indirect lighting and by candlelight in an unforgettable atmosphere.

Getting There

The principal access point to the Cristalino Jungle Lodge is the airport of Alta Floresta, in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso. The Alta Floresta airport has the second longest runway in the mid-west region, at 2,500 meters, enabling it to handle large aircraft. There are daily flights to and from Cuiabá, which take just over an hour in the modern jets of the airline Azul Linhas Aéreas.

Transfers

Cristalino Eco Lodge will meet you at the airport upon your arrival in Alta Floresta. The transfer to the hotel takes place the same day and involves only 1-hour drive, followed by a beautiful half hour boat ride through the beautiful Cristalino River. Then it’s “Welcome to the Cristalino Eco Lodge!” – you’ve arrived!

Activities at Cristalino Jungle Lodge

Cristalino Eco Lodge offers a wide range of outdoor activities, including:

• Canoeing:. The calm waters of the Cristalino River are perfect for canoeing, with safe and comfortable equipment provided.
• Trails: Nature tours along the 30 km (19 miles) trail system offer in-depth understanding of the tropical ecosystem, conducted in small groups to minimize disturbance to the forest.
• Canopy Towers: For a truly unique experience of the Amazon rainforest, a visit to the Canopy Towers cannot be missed. Soaring to 50 m (164 ft), with way stations at various heights, climbers can look out to panoramic views of the reserve, with the vast forest canopy a blanket of green at one’s feet.
• Flora & Fauna Observation Several flagship species of Brazilian fauna and flora can be found in this region, including: harpy eagle, Brazilian tapir, giant otter, white-whiskered-spider monkey, otter, white-collared peccary, white-nosed-saki monkey, red-handed howler monkey, dusky titi monkey, Schlage’s marmoset, cryptic falcon, crimson-bellied parakeet, black-girdled barbet, paradise tanager, crested owl, spangled cotinga, pavonine quetzal, purple honeycreeper, curl-crested aracari, great potoo, attalea maripa, brazil-nut tree and mahogany. This area has been highlighted by the Brazilian Ministry of the Environment as vital for conservation.
• Boat trips: Accompanied by guides, the boat trips are ideal for observing wildlife on the banks of the rivers.
