San Francisco, a global tourism and business centre, is another strong addition to Etihad Airways’ growing U.S. network and provides the first direct link between Abu Dhabi and Northern California.
Representatives from the diplomatic community, including His Excellency Abdulla Alsaboosi, Consul General of the United Arab Emirates, as well as members of the management teams of Etihad Airways and the San Francisco International Airport, participated in a ceremonial ribbon-cutting at the departure and arrival gate.
Guests onboard the inaugural flight were also presented with special commemorative certificates.
The launch is an example of the successful partnership between Etihad Airways and Jet Airways with the route operated using a Jet Airways’ Boeing 777-300ER aircraft through a lease agreement. The flights will have a combination of Etihad Airways and Jet Airways cabin crew onboard.
From its Abu Dhabi base, Etihad Airways currently flies to 111 existing or announced passenger and cargo destinations.
The airline has a fleet of 105 Airbus and Boeing aircraft, and more than 200 aircraft on firm order, including 71 Boeing 787s, 25 Boeing 777-X, 62 Airbus A350s and 10 Airbus A380s.
