Itinerary
Day 1 Thu. Arrive in Paris.
Welcome to Paris! After checking into your hotel, the balance of the day is at leisure to relax or start exploring on your own.
Three Night Stay: Paris, Sofitel Bercy.
Day 2 Fri. Paris Sights.
Enjoy Paris' famous sights during this morning's guided tour. Visit Notre Dame Cathedral, see the Louvre Museum, the commemorative Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysées, the Opera and much more. The remainder of the day is yours to explore.

Day 3 Sat. Paris.
A full free day to explore the amazing ‘City of Light'. Perhaps stroll along the boutique-lined boulevards, visit the top of the Eiffel Tower, sip coffee in the buzzing Latin Quarter, or chat with one of the many artists along the banks of the Seine River.

Day 4 Sun. Paris – Luxembourg – Trier.
We drive through the French countryside to Luxembourg, where you enjoy a tour of the city. There is time to explore Luxembourg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and one of the smallest countries in the world. Continue to nearby Trier, where you board your river ship ms Amalegro. Tonight gather on board for a Gala Welcome Dinner.

Day 5 Mon. Bernkastel – Zell.
This morning arrive in Bernkastel, boasting over 500 years of documented wine history. Take a guided walk through the old town centre with its Medieval and Renais-sance buildings. Continue sailing to Zell, a delightful town famous for its wine ‘Zeller Schwarze Katz'.

Day 6 Tue. Cochem – Koblenz – Rüdesheim.
This morning you decide – disembark for an included excursion to Cochem, for a tour of Reichsburg Castle. From here a motorcoach brings you to Koblenz, at the confluence of the Moselle and Rhine Rivers. Or, you can continue cruising along the Moselle to Koblenz and enjoy a walking tour of this beautiful town. Together, this afternoon cruise along the most famous part of the Rhine, past legendary Lorelei Rock. Arrive in Rüdesheim, where we visit Siegfried's Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum and explore the Drosselgasse, lined with taverns and restaurants.

Day 7 Wed. Mainz – Heidelberg – Frankfurt.
Today, again, you decide – disembark in Mainz and travel by coach to Heidelberg. Visit the red-walled castle and see the great vat, a 220,000-litres 18th-century wine cask. Enjoy a walking tour of Heidelberg and free time for lunch. In the afternoon rejoin your ship in Frankfurt. Alternatively, you can enjoy a leisurely walk through charming Mainz, home of printer Gutenberg. Then take a lunchtime cruise on the Main River to Frankfurt, the bustling where you take a guided walk of the historic centre ‘The Römer'.

Day 8 Thu. Miltenberg – Wertheim.
Arrive in Miltenberg and disembark for a guided morning walking tour of this old Franconian town. On to Wertheim, where we witness a glass-blowing performance before reboarding the ship. The rest of the day, cruise through the sunny valleys of the meandering Main.

Day 9 Fri. Würzburg.
After a morning filled with wonderful Main River scenery, you will be romanced by Würzburg. Surrounded by sloping hills covered with vineyards, the city is the capital of Lower Franconia, a centre of wine and trade. During your morning tour, visit the major sights including the magnificent Residential Palace. This afternoon, why not take an optional tour to Rothenburg, travelling along the ‘Romantic Road'.

Day 10 Sat. Bamberg.
Today enter the Main-Danube Canal at Bamberg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Germany's most beautiful cities. A walking tour reveals the Old Town Hall, the charming houses and 18th-century mansions of this medieval gem with its uniquely intact townscape. Continue cruising along the Main-Danube Canal to Nuremberg.

Day 11 Sun. Nuremberg – Munich Excursion.
Today travel by train to Munich, the capital of Bavaria and one of Germany's largest cities, often referred to as ‘Germany's secret capital'. Your Cruise Director will escort your day, offer suggestions of what to do whilst you are there and take you to lunch in the world famous Hofbrauhaus. Return to the ship in Nuremberg for dinner.

Day 12 Mon. Nuremberg – Continental Divide.
Enjoy a guided morning tour and see the 900 year old city wall, the Imperial Castle and the Justice Palace where the War Crimes Tribunal sat in 1946. Continue to transit the Main-Danube Canal as you sail through the highest point of your cruise 435 metres above sea level – before descending through stair-step locks.

Day 13 Tue. Regensburg.
This morning takes you through the final stretch of the Main-Danube Canal. In Regensburg, one of Germany's best preserved medieval cities, a guided tour will show you the city's architectural highlights, including the Old Town Hall and the Porta Pretoria gates to a Roman fort built in 179 AD. Tonight enjoy a Bavarian evening on board.
Day 14 Wed. Passau – Linz.
After breakfast, arrive in Passau and enjoy a walking tour of this fairy-tale city founded more than 2,000 years ago. Or, take an optional full day tour to Salzburg and its most popular Sound of Music sights. Those staying on board, enjoy a scenic cruise from Passau into Austria and on to Linz. After dinner, take a walk through town.

Day 15 Thu. Melk – Vienna.
Cruise through the narrow Strudengau and reach the Wachau Valley. A tour takes you to Melk's magnificent Benedictine Abbey, one of Europe's largest baroque monasteries. Afterwards, continue through the lovely Wachau Valley, dotted with castles and little riverside towns. Late this afternoon arrive in Vienna, the ‘City of Music'. Tonight explore the vibrant Austrian capital on your own, or come along for an optional Mozart and Strauss concert.

Day 16 Fri. Vienna.
A guided tour includes Hofburg Palace, the Opera House, Ringstrasse and St. Stephen's Cathedral. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure to shop or visit a museum or palace. Continue cruising overnight to Hungary and Budapest.

Our tour includes historic Buda Castle, with views of the twin cities of Buda and Pest spread over both banks of the river, Matthias Church, St. Stephen's Basilica, distinctive Fisherman's Bastion, the marvellous Royal Palace and much more. Your afternoon is free. Tonight enjoy a Gala Fare-well Dinner on board with Gypsy violinists.
