Day 1: Arrive in Malta
Tour begins: 6:00 PM, Le Méridien Phoencia, Valletta. Welcome to Malta, founded by the Knights of St. John in the 16th century; a transfer to your hotel from Malta International Airport is included. Meet your fellow travel companions at the welcome reception and dinner this evening.

• Day 2: Malta Memories
Tour the medieval walled city of Mdina, and take a coastal drive around St. Julian’s Bay. A highlight of your Valletta walking tour is the Co-Cathedral of St. John, one of the world’s finest examples of Baroque architecture – and filled with art treasures. Board your yacht, Le Ponant, in Valletta's Grand Harbor as your Mediterranean cruise sets sail for Sicily.

• Day 3: Antiquities on Sicily
Admire the view as you arrive on Sicily. Travel to Taormina, a terraced town clinging to high cliffs on the eastern coast of Sicily with Mt. Etna towering in the distance. Stroll the Corso Umberto, Old Town’s main pedestrian street lined with cafés and patisseries.

• Day 4: Sailing the Aeolian Isles
Sail to Lipari, the largest of the seven Aeolian Islands. A guided sightseeing tour includes a visit to the Archaeological Museum. You’ll have a front row seat on the deck this evening when Le Ponant sails by the volcanic island of Stromboli – nature puts on quite the show as the volcano lights up the sky with incandescent eruptions.

• Day 5: Drive along the spectacular Amalfi Coast
Go ashore at Salerno, and set out on the mountainous route along the Amalfi Coast, one of the most spectacular drives in the world. Arrive in stunning Ravello, perched on cliffs overlooking the sea. Visit Villa Rufolo, the former residence of several popes, offering spectacular views of the Mediterranean.

• Day 6: Island Life in Ponza
Tauck’s Mediterranean cruise calls at Ponza, the largest island in Italy’s Pontine Archipelago, today. The island features dramatic coves and cliffs, vineyard-covered hillsides, with yellow and pink houses plus a harbor full of fishing boats. A guided sightseeing tour precedes time at leisure to explore on your own.

• Day 7: Hidden Bonifacio
Sailing into the nearly hidden Corsican port of Bonifacio with a deep, narrow harbor sitting at the base of sheer limestone cliffs, is a highlight of your Mediterranean cruise. The fortified 12th-century town is built on the top of the cliffs with great views of the Mediterranean. Tour the walled fortress, explore medieval lanes, and see the former barracks of the French Foreign Legion.

• Day 8: The Natural Bounty of Corsica
Continue your Mediterranean cruise along the pristine coastline of Corsica, which has a delightful mix of French and Italian influences. Transfer by tender to the beach resort town of Calvi, then journey into the foothills through terraced vineyards, and groves of olives and oranges.

Day 9: Pleasures of the Côte d’Azur
Your Mediterranean cruise aboard Le Ponant ends in Nice. If you have chosen the 9-day itinerary, transfer to the Nice Côte-d'Azur Airport where the tour ends 2 1/2 hours before the departure of our selected flight(s). If you have chosen the 11-day itinerary, set off to visit Saint-Paul-de-Vence and see a bit of Nice en route to your luxurious hotel set above the harbor, close to the world-famous Monte-Carlo Casino
