May 25, Saturday Embark pm
Nice, France
It is one of the most famous locales on the Côte d’Azur, drawing the culturally curious, celebrity jet set, sun seekers and international foodies to its glamourous shores throughout the year. As the capital of the Alpes-Maritime department of the French Riviera, Nice also boasts actual clout as a hub for international commerce. But it’s the celebration of all things beautiful that reigns in this coastal retreat for the world’s elite, making Nice an artists’ mecca for centuries. Former resident Henri Matisse is honored here, with an impressive collection of his masterpieces showcased in the Musée Matisse, while Musée Marc Chagall features some of the artist’s more profound religious works. Beyond the actual works of art, virtually every viewpoint in Nice presents a frame worth painting, or at least photographing. Open-air markets occur daily, providing visitors access to the freshest local everything – from produce to lavender, handmade keepsakes and watercolor works painted before your eyes.

Monte Carlo, Monaco
Monaco is an ancient principality steeped in rich and colorful history. Its proud monarchy is presided over by Prince Albert, who assumed the throne after his famed father Prince Rainier died in 2005.
Today when gazing on its modern skyline, it is hard to imagine that Monaco endured a turbulent past. Once a Greek settlement conquered by the Romans, it was bought from the Genoese in 1309 by the Grimaldis, who still rule as the world’s oldest monarchy.
Monaco covers less than one square mile and is known primarily for its Grand Casino.

Carrara, Italy
Situated at the foot of the majestic Apuan Alps in Tuscany, Carrara is celebrated as the world’s capital of marble. Its famous white marble was used in Michelangelo’s masterpieces. Leonardo da Vinci developed a marble-cutting machine for the quarry. And it is believed that marble was quarried from the mountains for use in ancient Rome’s Pantheon and Trajan’s Column. In contrast to the stunning white slopes of the surrounding mountains, the colorful city of Carrara is home to many charming buildings painted in vibrant hues. Here you can see such iconic attractions as the Romanesque Saint Andrew’s Cathedral, covered entirely in marble, and the Teatro degli Animosi, a 19th-century marble theatre in neoclassical style. Carrara is located about 60 miles from Florence, where Michelangelo’s statue of David, carved from a single block of Carrara marble, stands in artistic glory at the Accademia Gallery museum.

Corsica/Calvi, France
Corsica is known as l’ile de beaute, the island of beauty, which is an apt name for this Mediterranean gem filled with white sandy beaches, azure seas, dense forests, snowcapped mountains and rolling countryside. The prosperous citadel town of Calvi is located on top of a promontory in the northwest section of the island and is surrounded by turquoise waters of the Golfe de Calvi. The coast between Calvi and l’ile Rousse to the north is studded with spectacular beaches. Journey to the south of the island to see the Citadelle of Bonafacio, which sits precariously on top of a headland of white limestone cliffs. Noted as the most stunning natural sight in Corsica, Les Calanches is a dramatic mountain landscape of red and orange granite that formed the most amazing and unusual shapes.

Cannes, France
One of nature’s miracles, the Côte d’Azur was blessed with superb natural beauty. It lies between the coastal mountains and the sea, where the Maritime Alps tumble down to the Mediterranean preventing cold northern winds from reaching the coast. This sun-drenched slope stretches some 60 miles westward from the border of the fairy-tale Kingdom of Monaco. As Crystal Serenity approaches the shore, you will be treated to a spectacular panorama of irregular peaks and scenic villages clustered on narrow ledges. Majestic cities like Nice, Monte Carlo and St-Tropez host pleasure boats, yachts and all the other trappings of the glamorous French Riviera.
