Itinerary
Day 1. Arrive Budapest – Embark cruise.
Arrive today in Budapest where you will be met at the airport and transferred to the pier to embark your river cruise ship. Enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 2. Budapest.
Disembark after breakfast for a tour of Hungary’s lovely capital. Your tour highlights the Fishermen’s Bastion and Matthias Church with its graceful spire. You also see the famous Chain Bridge and Elizabeth Bridge, two of many that connect the two halves of the city. In the afternoon, you may want to join us on an optional tour to discover the heritage of the legendary Hungarian ‘cowboys’ and witness an exhibition of their horsemanship. The ship sails again around dinnertime. Dinner onboard this evening features the varied cuisine of Hungary.

Day 3. Bratislava.
Spend the morning enjoying the passing Danube scenery. The ship docks in Bratislava in the early afternoon. Disembark after lunch for a walking tour of Slovakia’s capital, dominated by its massive square castle. On your tour you’ll see the Old Town, the historical heart of Bratislava, St. Martin’s Cathedral, Michael’s Gate with its 15th-century tower, the Old Town Hall and the neoclassical Archbishop’s Palace. After the tour, enjoy some free time.

Day 4. Vienna.
After breakfast, set off on a tour of Vienna, one of Europe’s most elegant and romantic cities. Your tour features the remarkable Ringstrasse, lined with imposing palaces and grand residences, encircling the medieval Inner City. See the magnificent Hofburg Palace, glorious St. Stephan’s Cathedral, and the beautiful State Opera House. Return to the ship for lunch, and enjoy an afternoon exploring on your own. After dinner onboard, you may want to attend an optional concert of compositions by Mozart and Strauss performed by a Viennese orchestra in one of the city’s palaces. The ship remains docked in Vienna until the early hours of the morning.

Day 5. Melk.
The ship cruises during the morning through the Wachau Valley, the heart of Austria’s wine country. Dock in Melk after lunch and disembark for an excursion to the dramatic baroque Melk Abbey, perched on sheer cliffs high above the Danube

Day 6. Passau.
The ship docks in Passau in the late morning. Disembark for a tour of this elegant town situated at the confluence of the Danube, the Ilz and the Inn Rivers. You’ll see the impressive Bishop’s Residenz, the 14th-century Town Hall, and the town’s magnificent 17th-century cathedral, containing one of the world’s largest pipe organs. After the tour, you can listen to an organ concert in lavish St. Stephan’s Cathedral.

Day 7. Regensburg.
Arrive in Regensburg during breakfast, after which you’ll enjoy a walking tour of one of Germany’s best-preserved medieval cities. See the gleaming spires of Gothic St. Peter’s church with its stained glass, the Old Town Hall and the 12th-century Stone Bridge, Germany’s oldest bridge. Return to the ship for lunch and enjoy an afternoon to relax or explore further in this lovely town.

Day 8. Nuremberg.
The ship docks in Nuremberg in the late morning. Disembark after lunch for a tour of this medieval city surrounded by 13th-century walls. See where the WWII Nazi trials were held and the grounds where Nazi rallies were held, as well as the imposing Imperial Castle. Admire the half-timbered houses and stroll through the Market Square. After the tour, you have some free time to do some shopping or explore on your own. After dinner, you’ll be entertained with Bavarian folkloric music. The ship remains docked here until the early hours of the morning.

Day 9. Bamberg.
Arrive in Bamberg at lunchtime. After lunch, disembark for a walking tour of one of Germany’s most beautiful cities. Admire the beautiful architecture, including the imposing 16th-century Old Court, the New Residence and the city’s impressive churches. Reboard the ship in the late afternoon and begin cruising.

Day 10. Würzburg – Rothenburg.
Disembark after breakfast and drive to the Main River town of Würzburg for a tour of the impressive baroque Bishops’ Residenz. Continue on to Rothenburg for a walking tour admiring the medieval town’s charming half-timbered houses. Enjoy a traditional German lunch in a local restaurant. Return to the ship in Würzburg.

Day 11. Wertheim.
Dock in Wertheim and disembark for a walking tour of this charming fairy-tale town located at the meeting of the Main and Tauber Rivers. After some free time to explore on your own, return to the ship for lunch and spend the afternoon enjoying the passing scenery as the ship cruises towards Mainz.

Day 12. Mainz – Rüdesheim.
After breakfast, take a walking tour of Mainz and see the town’s 11th-century Romanesque cathedral. The Gutenberg printing press and Bible are housed here in the Gutenberg Museum. After the tour, you’ll have some free time to shop or explore on your own. Return to the ship for lunch during the short cruise to Rüdesheim. Disembark for a mini-train ride into town and a visit to the Music Museum, full of fascinating antique mechanical musical instruments. After the tour, you have the balance of the afternoon and evening to explore this delightful wine-producing town. The ship remains docked here overnight. After dinner, you may want to enjoy an after-dinner drink in one of the many wine taverns.

Day 13. Cologne.
As you cruise along the Rhine this morning, your Cruise Director will point out the little towns, castles, ruins and other sights along and in the river. This is one of the most beautiful stretches of the Rhine, along which the ship passes Lorelei, the legendary rock rising 440 feet above the river. After lunch, disembark for a guided tour of Cologne’s magnificent Gothic cathedral and Old City. After time at leisure to shop and explore more of Cologne. Reboard the ship and gather to toast your memories at the Captain’s Farewell Dinner, as the ship begins cruising towards Amsterdam.

Day 14. Amsterdam.
Enjoy a final morning of cruising along the waterways of Holland. The ship docks in Amsterdam around noon. After lunch, disembark for a cruise on one of the city’s famous glass-topped canal boats. The cruise ends at the world famous Rijksmuseum, and your entry fee is included. The balance of the day is at leisure for you to explore on your own.
