Lake Powell is one of the largest man-made lakes in the world built in 1963, located on the Colorado River in Utah, Arizona and United States. It is a hugely popular destination visited by approximately two million people per year. There are 196 significant canyons that branch off Lake Powell most popular being the Labyrinth Canyon, Last Chance Bay, Forbidding Canyon and Cross Canyon.
The lake is often clear with brilliant blue and or emerald green coloured water and the sandstone surrounding has bright red streaks and some orange, and yellow. Activities offered on the lake are kayaking, swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, cruising, or just explore the lake, the possibilities are endless. Lake Powell is home to the world’s longest stretch of non-stop boating making it an explorer’s paradise. The large open canyons that surround Lake Powell means it provides the perfect backdrop for sunsets and stargazing on the water.
