Itinerary

Day 01 Arrive Vientiane
Arrive to your private A&K welcome and settle into your heritage hotel. Your introduction to the charming Laotian capital includes Wat Sisaket, Pratuxai (the Victory Monument) and the royal stupa, That Luang. You also visit the textile studio established by U.S. textile expert Carol Cassidy and one of the country’s first commercial weaving ventures (L).

Day 02 Vientiane-Luang Prabang
The day’s adventure starts with a morning flight north to the imperial capital, Luang Prabang, serenely situated at the junction of the Mekong and Nam Khan Rivers and surrounded by mountains. In the afternoon your A&K guide accompanies will familiarise you with this delightful city full of temples and colonial French architecture. Climb Phoussi Hill for breathtaking sunset views (B).

Days 03-04 Design Your Days Luang Prabang
The pace here is laid back but to make the most of it A&K includes two days of exploration taking in a nearby hilltribe village, the Tat Sae waterfalls and time to meditate in one of the temples with a local monk. Other important temples included are Wat Visoun and Xieng Thong plus the colourful market and National Museum, housed in the former Royal Palace. Visiting a rural minority school nearby and the welcome Baci ceremony are also a highlight. To vary the programme, options include a private boat trip on the Mekong with local village visits or the Kuangsi waterfalls and tomb of Henri Mouhot, best known for his discovery of Angkor Wat (B,L).

Day 05 Depart Luang Prabang
Farewell to Luang Prabang as you head to the airport for onward flight arrangements (B).
