Day 1: Picturesque Cape Town
South Africa tour begins at Cape Town International Airport one hour after arrival of Tauck-selected flights. Transfer to your hotel, located on Cape Town’s vibrant waterfront. Enjoy the welcome reception and dinner with Table Mountain as a backdrop, rising strikingly from the sea.

Day 2: Discover Cape Town
Sightseeing highlights include the Castle of Good Hope completed in 1679 and one of the oldest European structures in South Africa; St. George’s Cathedral; and Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, among the most beautiful gardens in the world. Explore scenic beaches heading south, and then ride the funicular to the top of Cape Point for views of the Cape of Good Hope. Discover the charms of Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, a vibrant entertainment district near your hotel.

Day 3: Wineries and wine tasting
Ride a cable car to the top of Table Mountain and walk along trails with views of the city and rugged coastline. Then head to South Africa’s wine country, stopping to taste wine at a historic estate. Visit the town of Stellenbosch, located in one of the oldest and most important wine-producing regions in South Africa. Founded in 1679, it features whitewashed Cape Dutch buildings along oak-lined streets.

Day 4: Historic Pilgrims Rest
Your South Africa tour continues with a flight to Kruger-Mpumalanga International Airport. Drive through the veldt containing grasslands, bush-covered plains, and steep mountains. Explore the historic gold-mining town of Pilgrims Rest.

Day 5: African landscapes
Travel through the lowveldt’s scrubby terrain, and stop at panoramic overlooks along the Blyde River Canyon. Arrive at your luxury lodge in one of South Africa’s exclusive private game reserves, located on the banks of the Sabie River adjacent to Kruger National Park. Day 6: Private Game Reserve
Rise early for a morning game drive aboard a four-wheel drive, open-top Land Rover. Skilled rangers guide the adventure, providing fascinating insights into reserve geography, wildlife, and conservation efforts. Sightings may include leopards, lions, elephants, impalas, and zebras. There are also over 350 bird species in the reserve. During free time in the afternoon, take a guided bush walk, or enjoy a swim in the pool. Day 9: Experience the grandeur of Victoria Falls
Fly to Victoria Falls, regarded as one of the seven natural wonders of the world. The Zambezi River plunges more than 300 feet into the Zambezi Gorge, often creating rainbows in the spray. It is nearly twice as wide and twice as high as Niagara Falls. Enjoy elegant accommodations at The Victoria Falls Hotel, established in 1904. In your free time, stroll the hotel’s private pathway atop the gorge for inspiring views of the Victoria Falls Bridge crossing into Zambia. Note: Guests who booked the shorter, nine-day itinerary have a private transfer to the airport in the morning for departure home.

Day 10: The ultimate elephant ride
Take a morning walking tour into Zambezi National Park, and learn about the African elephant from your guide.
