A&K’s ever popular introductory tour to Egypt combines the fascinating sights of Cairo with a Nile cruise that focuses on the temples and tombs of Upper Egypt as well as all the highlights of the capital.

In Upper Egypt, begin a journey through time as you sail the Nile, visiting the awesome temples of Karnak and Luxor, the tombs of the Valley of the Kings and Queens and the historical highlights of Aswan.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 01 Arrive Cairo 
A&K meet and greet on arrival into the Egyptian capital and transfer to hotel. Cairo

Day 02 Cairo
Today’s sightseeing begins with a tour of Memphis, capital of the Old Kingdom and one of Egypt’s most important cities. Continue to Sakkara to view the famous Step Pyramid, the world’s oldest stone structure. After lunch, drive to the Pyramids and Sphinx at Giza, including a visit to the Solar Boat Museum and entrance to Cheops’ Pyramid, the only present-day survivor of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World (B,L). Day 03 Cairo
Morning sightseeing of the world famous Egyptian Museum, housing an astonishing array of archaeological finds, including the riches of Tutankhamun, the Mummy Room and a series of new exhibits. After lunch, enter the world of Islamic Cairo including the Citadel, the 19th Century Mosque of Mohammed Ali and Khan el Khalili Bazaar (B,L). Cairo

Day 04 Cairo-Aswan
Fly to Aswan. Optional excursion to Abu Simbel to visit the colossal temples of Ramses II and his Queen, Nefertari. Return to Aswan to board Sun Boat IV, spending the next four nights afloat. After lunch, enjoy an afternoon Royal Felucca cruise around the islands of Aswan passing by the Botanical Gardens. There is an evening cocktail reception hosted by your boat manager, followed by dinner (B,L,D). Sun Boat IV

Day 05 Nile Cruise
Morning visits to the Temple of Philae on Agilika Island, the Unfinished Obelisk at the Ancient Granite Quarries and the Aswan High Dam. After lunch sail to Kom Ombo. Visit the great Temple of Sobek, dedicated to two gods: Sobek, the crocodile god and Horus, the sun god. Sail to Edfu and enjoy an evening of local entertainment (B,L,D). Sun Boat IV

Day 06 Nile Cruise
Morning visit to the Temple of Horus at Edfu, an excellent example of ancient Egyptian temples, with its interior remarkably intact. Continue to the Temple of Khnum at Esna. Sail to Luxor (B,L,D). Sun Boat IV

Day 07 Nile Cruise
Cross to the West Bank of the Nile for sightseeing of the Valley of the Kings and Queens, where hundreds of tombs are carved into the rugged hill, their interiors richly decorated with colourful hieroglyphs. Continue to Medinet Habu, a series of temples second only to Karnak in size. Make photo stops at the Temple of Hatshepsut, Egypt’s only female pharaoh, and the Colossi of Memnon. This afternoon visit the huge temple complex of Karnak and the equally impressive Luxor Temple. In the evening there will be a farewell dinner with Oriental Folklore show (B,L,D). Sun Boat IV

Day 08 Luxor-Cairo
This morning disembark the cruise and transfer airport for return flight to Cairo (B). Cairo

Day 09 Depart Cairo
A&K transfer to the airport for onward flight arrangements (B).
