Itinerary
Day 1
You will be picked up from the airport or rail station and transferred by private car to the hotel of your choice. Settle in and afternoon at leisure.
Day 2
Your personal guide will meet you at the hotel and proceed by foot or metro to the start of a gastronomic adventure. From the Concorde Square to the Madeleine Church – an entire district dedicated to the glory of French gastronomy. You will have the opportunity to meet the shop keepers and taste a range of gourmet specialities including foie gras, truffle, regional cheeses and pastries. Also included is a visit to the Madeleine church and an outside visit of the magnificent Concorde square.
Depending on the day of arrival, you might like to take a cruise and Champagne tasting this evening at 6pm (available Thursday, Friday and Saturday). The tour will leave from the dock by the Eiffel Tower. Inside a private room at the front of the boat you will cruise down the Seine River while sipping Champagne. The sommelier will not only explain about the wine but will provide insight on the history and meaning of the monuments you will pass during the cruise. There will be three Champagnes to taste: Brut, Demi-sec and Rose. The cruise will last an hour and you’ll return to the dock at the Eiffel Tower.
Day 3
Depending on your day of arrival, today you could discover the art of cheese making (every day except Sunday and Monday from 1pm to 3pm). You will enjoy a cheese and wine session, unique in Paris. Our cheese merchant is one of only 5 in Paris who matures her cheese in the cellar of her shop. You will have the chance to visit the cellar and she will explain the art of maturation. She will explain the different cheese “families” and how to recognize cheese according to their region. Your senses will be invigorated by the tasting of 7 seasonal rare cheeses. They will be combined with original and surprising flavours such as: white wine jam, olive and lemon chutney, fig chutney, gingerbread or quince paste. Also offered is an exquisite selection of breads and an appropriate selection of wine from small producers. A memorable experience.
Day 4
Guided Food Tour in the morning – Meet at the Saint Sulpice Church and discover the fabulous “temples to gastronomy” on the Left Bank of Paris. You’ll discover historical bistros and cafes located in the elegant St. Germain district. Our guide will take you to some of the best cheese, pastry and chocolate shops in Paris. You’ll also visit the Parisian tearoom, Laduree and taste their famous macaroons.
Finish around 1pm and the afternoon is free.
At 5pm your wine tasting begins. The tasting will be held in an historic cellar right near the Louvre. You will taste six wonderful French wines including Champagne and expand your knowledge of French wine. The sommelier will teach you how to read a French label and how to navigate a wine list. You will also learn about wine techniques for appreciation and pairing food and wine. You’ll be acquainted with the major French wine regions and the interesting details that make French wines unique. You will learn fun and useful tips, including how to slurp wine with class. The tasting is for small groups of up to 12 persons and conducted on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Finish at 7pm. The rest of the evening is free.
