The Japanese government has announced that from the 7th of September 2022, they will ease entry restrictions for travellers with its new coronavirus countermeasures. The following changes will be implemented:
- The daily cap on arrivals into the country will increase from 20,000 pax up to 50,000 per day.
- Visitors from all countries will be allowed to enter the country as long as their itineraries have been booked through a travel agency
- Pre-departure PCR tests will no longer be required for triple-vaccinated travellers from Australia and New Zealand.
- Tourists who are entering on package tours, including non-guided package tours, from all countries/regions will be accepted.
*Please note that a receiving organisation is still necessary to visit Japan, as is a visa, for which an ERFS certificate is still required.
Travellers departing from Australia and New Zealand automatically fall under the ‘Blue’ group. They are not required to take a PCR test or quarantine on arrival, regardless of vaccination status. Please be aware that all travellers will need to apply for a visa.
