Enjoy some of Fiji’s best watersports at Namotu, including surfing, windsurfing, diving and fishing.
Accommodation
Namotu Island is a four hectare private and exclusive island with a position unmatched in the Fijian archipelagos.
It is the last atoll to the south on a chain of reef known as the Mamaucas and is 5 miles off the west coast of the main island, Viti Levu.
Our closest islands are Tavarua and Malolo, or Plantation Island. Both are visible from Namotu.
Namotu Island caters for all levels in water sports – from beginners to the extreme water sports person – and we excel in providing you with a more personalised experience.
Upon arrival you will be greeted by our friendly staff, who will take you to the island via a 30 minute journey in our private airconditioned bus and a 15 minute boat trip.
If requested by prior arrangement, a helicopter can fly you to the island in less than ten minutes.
Shortly after arrival you will be briefed by management on our facilities, conditions, activities and meal times. Any questions will be answered and special requirements taken.

Four of the beach bures are ideal for couples, although a third person can be accommodated.
Two of the larger beach bures can, if requested, sleep up to six guests if shared accommodation is required by groups.
Island Villa
The Villa sits on the southern tip of Namotu and is extremely private, with it's own jacuzzi, swimming pool, east and west deck areas, views of eight surf locations and spectacular sunrises and sunsets. It is complete with living room, dining area and bathroom.
All bedrooms in the villa are airconditioned with views over the reefs, surf and neighbouring islands such as Tavarua island and Viti Levu, the main island of Fiji.
It accommodates six people comfortably – ideal for three couples, or each bedroom can be shared by two people.
Cuisine
Freshness, innovation and the best of local and imported produce is included in our Island cuisine. For example, experience the taste of fresh-caught fish such as Island-caught Yellowfin Tuna served as sashimi (Japanese-style raw fish) or poki (a Hawaiian raw fish recipe) at sunset on most days, along with pacific oysters, prawns and a mix of other hors d'oeuvres.
Every Thursday night Namotu offers its guests a mix of traditional Fijian cuisine (Lovo) where guest are also invited to participate in a Kava ceremony with our Fijian staff.
For meat lovers, only the best quality lamb and beef is imported from New Zealand and Australia.
Water Sports
We have fishing and diving gear available for those who do not bring their own. Fishing and boat transfers to and from surf breaks are included and our chef will cook your catch of the day to your requirements.
The angler who catches the biggest fish for each of eight species will have their name and the weight of the fish engraved onto a trophy in the Sunset Bar.
We have foil and scurf boards to be used behind our Yamaha 1200 jet skis. These jet skis are also used for safety and rescue if needed by our lifeguards.
A traditional five-man Hawaiian canoe and paddleboards are stored on the beach for your use.
Surfing
Namotu is where surfers belong. Great surfing venues surround the island including: Namotu Lefts; Swimming Pools and Wilkes Pass
Namotu Lefts
This left breaks all year from three feet to ten feet. The better months are from November until April, when lighter winds prevail. Namotu lefts peel off across the reef directly in front of our Sunset Bar and dining area.
The lefts are also an excellent long-boarding wave on smaller days. When swell conditions exceed six feet this break develops into a barrelling and challenging wave.
Regardless of swell size, Namotu lefts break in deeper water
Swimming Pools
This break is one of the prettiest locations to surf on this planet. Pools breaks in crystal clear water from two feet to six feet. It becomes a high performance wave over four feet, with crisp clean barrels – a sweet safe wave for any surfer.
Pools breaks all year, but provides its best surfing between November and April, when north to north-west winds are more common.
Wilkes
Wilkes delivers a hollow right-hander that wraps around a 180 degree reef with rides of up to two hundred meters. This location can be extremely challenging, when sizeable, it breaks from three to fifteen feet.
Wilkes breaks throughout the year but excels between November and April, when light north-east winds are common, making for ultimate surfing conditions.
Kite and Windsurfing
In recent years Namotu has been proclaimed by world-class professional sailboarders and kiters such as Robby Naish as being unmatched around the globe for the conditions that these two sports demand.
In May 1997 the O'Neill Namotu Windsurfing Classic was held in surf and wind conditions that the world's best competitors described as being "ultimate" for such an event.
The east side of the island has flat, calmer water while the west side delivers the perfect port tack through Namotu lefts when prevailing south-east trades blow.
Namotu is a perfect training ground for both beginners and pro kite and wind surfers
