On the Glorious Twelfth all over Scotland the Estates host the biggest game drive of the season – driven Red Grouse. Join the thrill of the season in 2016 at Angus Glens, renowned grouse moors since the 18th century. Frequent visitors to the glens included the future Queen Elizabeth with her father King George VI.

“There are few moments that can match the thrill of standing in a grouse butt, eyes fixed on the heather horizon as a covey of Scottish red grouse appear, wind at their backs, hugging the rugged contours of the ground while flying at up to eighty-five miles an hour – this is the magic of a driven grouse day on top of some of the finest estates in Scotland"

Your day will begin at dawn, only a short drive by four-wheel vehicle from the iconic House of Turin and straight to the nearby Estate to meet the keepers and briefing on the days’ events.

The House of Turin

The House of Turin is a luxurious, Five Star exclusive-use country mansion in the heart of Scotland. Midway between Edinburgh and Aberdeen, surrounded by the scenic Angus Glens, it is the perfect place to retreat from the rush of everyday life and surrender to lush, unspoiled countryside.

An authentic Scottish hideaway, The House of Turin is luxuriously spacious, providing ten beautifully appointed bedrooms, yet it retains an intimate and boutique feel. Elegantly designed with an opulent mixture of traditional and contemporary aesthetics throughout – from roaring fires to mini claw foot baths to four-poster suites to the gorgeous warming aga stove to rooms outfitted with Clive Christian furniture, not to mention the private pool – every detail has been lovingly hand-picked to the highest quality, ensuring a completely sumptuous experience during your stay.

Steeped in history, The House of Turin was built in 1659 then devotedly relocated – stone by stone – in 1907, nestled in twenty acres of private grounds that could be yours to explore. It stands on land gifted by King James to the Oliphant family in recognition of their services to the King during the battle of Stirling Castle. The combination of dramatic, breath-taking views and the grand-yet-homely house provides endless inspiration. This beautiful getaway aside the formalities of hotel and invites guests to completely unwind during their stay, with the option for self-catering or full-catering, as well as a range of options for bespoke dining experiences.

A sophisticated setting for any event, the in-house team at The House of Turin are delighted to work with you, putting their expert local knowledge and extensive event experience to use.

The House of Turin is within easy access of many excellent Highland Shooting Estates, over 100 golf courses, including championship courses such as Carnoustie (20 minutes drive), the iconic St Andrews, Clay Pigeon shooting, Land Rover safaris, Mountain biking, whisky tasting, falconry and of course shopping expeditions to nearby Edinburgh for the shoppers in the group. We are within a short drive of our local Whisky Distillery and a local Distillery now producing Award-winning Potato Vodkas on the lands of Lord Strathmore the laird of the Royal Glamis Castle.
