Perth residents will have the opportunity to experience the Emirates Airbus A380 for the first time with the announcement that Emirates will up-gauge one of its three daily services between Perth and Dubai to its flagship aircraft from 1 May 2015.
The change from a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft will see an increase in capacity of 131 seats per flight and 1,834 seats per week, reinforcing Emirates’ commitment to Perth passengers.
Emirates’ divisional senior vice president commercial operations east Barry Brown, said that Emirates’ is excited to be the first airline to offer the A380 to Perth.
“Emirates looks forward to being the first airline to bring the state-of-the-art A380 to Perth, offering residents the chance to experience this revolutionary aircraft and the best service in the sky first-hand,” Mr Brown said.
“Australian customers are strategic to Emirates, therefore the deployment of an A380 to a fifth city in the country in association with Qantas demonstrates this further.”
Together with Qantas, from May 2015 a total of seven daily A380 services will operate to Dubai with onward connections to Emirates’ global network of more than 140 destinations.
Emirates offers a seamless A380 experience through Dubai International Airport’s Concourse A, the world’s first purpose built A380 terminal, to 33 A380 serviced destinations on the network.
Today’s announcement caps off a range of recent upgrades to Emirates’ Australian services, including the introduction of a daily A380 to Brisbane and Melbourne, a double daily A380 to Sydney and a daily Adelaide service.
