Lizard Island is scheduled for a soft opening 01Mar15 and will unveil its complete new look and facilities on 01Apr15. This exciting news comes after a full year of restoration and rebuilding following the impact of Cyclone Ita.
Structurally, most rooms and suites have not changed – however there are a few exciting new additions.
The introduction of The Villa will set a new aspiration for accommodation on Lizard Island. The Villa sits atop a ridge offering uninterrupted views across Sunset Beach and the Coral Sea. With two bedrooms, both with ensuites, master with luxury bath, butler’s kitchen and wrap around dock, this 95 sq metre Villa is the epitome of Lizard Island’s understated luxury.
The Pavilion, with its private gazebo, plunge pool and a 280 degree breathtaking view over the Coral Sea – will now be expanded to include a separate lounge room.
A selection of the Sunset Point Villas will have the added luxury of private plunge pools.
Working with the creative teams at OPV Architects and Hecker Guthrie – Lizard Island will retain all of the tradition and understated luxury that is renowned for.
“The rooms and suites will be sublimely comfortable with a nod to the tropics. Natural tones and finishes together with subtle ambient lighting will create a serene, residential style experience. The hero will always be the stunning views – and it was our role to create interiors that integrated naturallly into the surrounding environs.
This natural and atmospheric design theme is extended to the lounge area, where the bar and restaurant are located and also the spa." said Hamish Guthrie, Director, Hecker Guthrie.
General Manager – Amanda Silk:
“It has been a career highlight and a professional privilege to have had the opportunity to work with our internal and external creative teams to restore Lizard Island and to direct the evolution of the style and design of this much loved resort. Our team is now starting to come on board in readiness for our 01Mar15 opening."
