Cathay Pacific Adds a Soft Touch

Cathay Pacific is gently rolling out new soft furnishings in both first and business class with UK brand partner, Bamford.

The new touches include Bamford soft bedding, amenity kits, new tableware, plus a wellness approach to the menu.  The upgrades are taking place on the Boeing 777-3000ER first class cabins and right across business class.

In a bid to reduce plastic wrap waste, Cathay Pacific now provide bedding in a zipped-up material bag, with a plush pillow, mattress topper, duvet (all cotton) and slippers, and for first-class passengers, cotton sheets, too. Pyjamas aren’t supplied on Cathay Pacific flights, so passengers are reminded to bring their own.

Amenity kits for both first and business class will be introduced at the beginning of December with toiletries from Bamford in both male and female versions in first class and unisex in business.

First Class Difference

Along with 600-thread cotton bedware in first class, the fully-flat beds will also be sprayed with Bamford Pillow Mist upon turndown. Passengers will receive a welcome tray when entering, with sparkling jasmine tea which is part of the airline’s new wellness menus. In a bid to offer lighter and healthier options, superfood sides and fresh-pressed juices are expected to be on the menu, adding a kick-start to the day at breakfast. China crockery from Noritake, cutlery from Robert Welch and wine glasses from Riedel will also grace passengers’ tables.

Business Class Upgrade

The new bedding in business class does make a difference. Anyone who has flown with Cathay Pacific before will know that laying directly on the seat itself was the old option, but the new mattress topper, although not exactly thick, does make a more comfortable night’s sleep teamed with the duvet. The fully flat bed also has enough feet wiggle room.

All in all, the soft furnishings and menu alterations will be a welcome change for Cathay Pacific first and
business class passengers.
