Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive Livingstone

On arrival into Livingstone, please clear customs and immigration and collect your luggage before you exit into the arrivals hall. There you will be met by a representative of Sanctuary Retreats and transferred by shared vehicle to your lodge.

Day 2

Livingstone

Enjoy two days at Sussi & Chuma Lodge with time to discover the beauty of the Zambezi. A spectacular river setting, the lodge is a perfect base for relaxing, viewing Victoria Falls from the Zambian side or taking a safari in the park on the river. Included during your stay is a guided tour of the Zambian side of Victoria Falls; a visit to Nakatindi village, home to an established Abercrombie & Kent Philanthropy project; a game drive in the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park; or an early morning or sunset boat trip on the river. A cultural tour of Livingstone with a visit to the museum is also an option (additional cost).

Day 3

Livingstone- Kasane – Chobe National Park

Today you will be met and transferred to Kasane with border formalities en-route. As we travel through Zimbabwe, stop for a guided tour of Victoria Falls from the Zimbabwe side. A tour of the Victoria Falls affords not only a view of one of the Seven Wonders of the Natural World but information about their creation and geology, the unique eco-system of the rainforest, daring exploits of colonial explorers, and magical tales of local legend under the constant spray from the ‘The Smoke that Thunders’. The Tour Guides will ensure the best photographic opportunities of this World Heritage Site while providing fascinating facts and figures of this iconic waterfall.

A warm A&K welcome to Botswana as you are met and transferred to your lodge in nearby Chobe National Park, Botswana’s second largest, famous for its massive herds of elephant and buffalo.

Day 4

Chobe National Park

Enjoy a full day at Chobe Chilwero with morning and afternoon game viewing activities in Chobe National Park. Enjoy game drives by open 4WD vehicle or a boat trip on the Chobe River.

Day 5

Chobe – Moremi Game Reserve

Fly onwards by light aircraft to your luxury bush pavilion in the world-renowned Mombo Concession, Africa’s “predator capital”. Vast numbers of animals congregate here all year round and Chief’s Island is one of the many created by the seasonal flood waters of the Okavango Delta. Game viewing here is outstanding, with the Big Five a highlight. On arrival, you will be met by a Chief’s Representative and transferred to your camp.

Day 6

Moremi Game Reserve

Enjoy a full day to explore the Delta, experiencing the exceptional wildlife by 4WD with an expert safari guide or a mokoro ride through the waterways (in season). There are good opportunities to see rhino, leopard, giraffe, elephant, buffalo, zebra, antelope – and for the keen birder, a wonderful variety of avian species.

Day 7

Depart Moremi Game Reserve

Transfer to the airstrip for your light aircraft flight to Maun where on arrival you will be met by A&K and assisted with your onward departure flight. Here your A&K Zambia & Botswana Safari comes to a close.

Sanctuary Chief’s Camp

Sanctuary Chief’s Camp is located on Chief’s Island in the Mombo Concession of the Moremi Game Reserve, an area known as the “predator capital of Africa” – an ideal game viewing location. The seasonal water of the delta ensures that the area in front of the camp is always changing – from a dry flood plain teeming with wildlife to a lush and tranquil lagoon.

Sanctuary Chief’s Camp has twelve luxury bush pavilions with four poster beds and mosquito nets, traditional ceiling fans, a private deck and both indoor and outdoor showers. The camp also has a swimming pool and with the finest cuisine and wines, is consistently rated as one of the top safari camps in Botswana by Condé Nast and Travel & Leisure magazines.
