Hilton has celebrated a major milestone with its Digital Key service: it has opened 2 million doors at 400 hotels since it launched one year ago. The major feat is marked by the addition of two new features to the hotel’s award-winning members’ app, Hilton HHonors.
The Digital Key, which is available only through the Hilton HHonors app, allows members to digitally check into their room as well as select their room preference. A travel industry-first, interactive digital floor plans and integration with Google Maps API, enables guests to choose the location of their room as well as their preferred view.
This means guests can choose if they want a room on a lower or higher floor and if they want a city or ocean view. Guests can also bypass the whole reception process and proceed directly to their room upon arrival. Digital Key is offered once a room is booked and is issued to a smartphone on the day of arrival.
There are more reasons for Hilton to celebrate the success of Digital Key including; the start of its globalisation with Singapore signing on, the digital check-in and room selection is used over 1 million times per month, and nearly 7 million rooms have been selected via the digital check-in feature since the start of the year.
