Beijing

Beijing is the capital of China and one of the country’s most important political, cultural, and historical centers. It blends ancient imperial heritage with modern urban development, creating a city where centuries-old landmarks sit alongside glass skyscrapers and major business districts.

At its historical core are world-famous sites such as the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, and sections of the Great Wall just outside the city. These reflect Beijing’s long role as the seat of imperial dynasties and national power. The city is also known for its traditional hutong neighborhoods—narrow alleyways lined with courtyard homes that preserve a glimpse of old Beijing life.

Modern Beijing is a global metropolis with a strong focus on government, technology, education, and the arts. It also has a distinct culinary identity, most famously Peking duck, along with a wide range of regional Chinese cuisines found throughout the city.
