Route: Sydney → Istanbul (via Kuala Lumpur)
I flew Turkish Airlines Business Class from Sydney to Istanbul, late May 2025, and it was a smooth, enjoyable journey from start to finish. The aircraft was the Airbus A350-900, which features their newest business class product—identical to what’s used on the Melbourne route via Singapore

🛋️ Lounge in Sydney
Before departure, you have access to the Air New Zealand Lounge at Sydney Airport. It’s a solid lounge with plenty of seating, a good variety of food and drinks, and a calm atmosphere
🛏️ Cabin & Seat
- Layout: 1‑2‑1 configuration with direct aisle access from every seat
- Comfort: Fully lie-flat bed, private and spacious
- Entertainment: Wide selection of movies, TV, and music
- Aircraft: A350-900—modern, quiet, and well-designed
👨🍳 Dining Experience
A special highlight: a chef in uniform personally takes your food order onboard—something I haven’t experienced on any other airline. The food was well-prepared, beautifully presented, and served when you wanted. Turkish Airlines really puts effort into the in-flight dining experience.
🛑 Transit in Kuala Lumpur
There was a brief 1 hour 45 minute stop in KL:
- You will stay on the same aircraft in the same seat
- The transit lounge – Global Lounge is decent, with a good range of food and drinks for a short stop
🛬 Arrival at Istanbul
Visa is required for Australians. Use the official Turkish government site to apply for an e-visa online before departing from Australia.

Turkish Airlines provides a dedicated Business Class check-in zone at Istanbul Airport.
It’s spacious, well-designed, and gives a premium feel right from the start—no queues, just a smooth, elegant experience.
Turkish Airlines’ Business Lounge in Istanbul Airport is one of the best in the world. With multiple live cooking stations, fresh Turkish and international cuisine, and stylish seating areas, it’s easily one of the best lounges I’ve experienced. A fantastic way to relax before your onward flight.
