THREE weeks after floodwaters drowned its runway, Rockhampton’s airport will reopen.
Daytime flights will resume at Rockhampton on Monday at 8am (AEST), and night flights on Wednesday.
All major runway repairs and critical perimeter fencing works have now been completed. Airport electrical services are in the final phase of runway lighting system repairs and calibration. Linemarking of the runways and taxiways will be complete on Sunday.
Due to extensive flood damage, the secondary runway (RWY04/22) will remain closed for an extended period. This will not affect the return to normal airline operations.
