Today Paspaley invites your international visitors to experience the magic and beauty of Australian South Sea pearls in a Pearl Discovery Tour at the Paspaley flagship boutique in Martin Place, Sydney.
The tour begins with The Paspaley Archive – an exhibition that explores the history and heritage of Paspaley, and the beginnings of the Australian pearling industry. A highlight is a unique display of tools and equipment used in pearling over the last century. There is a rare hardhat diving suit, a sextant and compass used by early pearl luggers to navigate by the stars, pearl grading equipment and an original pearl box.
And, of course, there is a treasure-trove of pearls. The Archive showcases some of the most important and iconic pearls ever found, including the legendary Paspaley Pearl. Harvested in 2003 from a Paspaley pearl farm on the Kimberley coast, it is possibly the finest natural or cultured South Sea pearl ever found. The Archive also includes The Unique Collection – a selection of particularly special Australian South Sea pearls chosen for their exceptional shape, colour and lustre.
During the tour visitors will discover The Five Virtues – the traditional method by which all fine pearls are graded. In a hands-on session, visitors learn the steps involved in this highly skilled practice, and begin their journey to becoming true pearl connoisseurs.
Elsewhere in the boutique Paspaley’s fine pearl jewellery collections are on display, including an array of magnificent Paspaley pearl strands – esteemed throughout the world as the pinnacle of quality and natural beauty. At the conclusion of the tour visitors are encouraged to peruse the collections at their leisure.
